Don't be hasty to start your own mod; all our FFT modding projects are greatly understaffed. Find out how you can help in the Recruitment section.

Quote from: damon5555 on January 22, 2021, 09:38:24 pmThanks for the quick reply Nyzer. I tried once again with the most recent version of Multipatch I could find (Version 1.7.1 (1.7.1)), and still getting the same problem of locking on the PS1 logo. Any idea of a another of app to apply the PPF patch?

can you run WINE and just patch it with PPF-o-Matic that way? There are also ppf patching programs for phones, at least for androids. I know nothing about macs/apple
Spriting / Re: Porklin's sprites
January 15, 2021, 02:08:01 pm
Quote from: Porklin on January 15, 2021, 11:37:27 amAs a spriting exercise, I decided to fill in the "missing" frames on the vanilla goblin spritesheet. If you want goblins that can sing and wield weapons, this is the sprite for you.

It's worth noting that I have not tested this in game. I tried my best to have the hands located in the same spot as other vanilla sprites, but I'm not sure if weapons will be in the exact right spot. Maybe one day I'll get around to that.

Thanks man. Gonna snag this for Jot5

Moving this to help. This section is for patches..
I've never had an issue with FFTP on Vista, 7 or 10, in any folder, regardless of UAC settings...
Help! / Re: Issue with Portraits during Sprite Editing
December 29, 2020, 06:12:46 pm
Quote from: AriusScorpius on December 29, 2020, 04:34:40 amNo, that checkbox is there and active. Let me break it down entirely.

I'm modding a PSX .iso. I saved several sprite sheets off of FFhacktics, but when I view them on my PC and try to screenshot them so I can rotate them and use them, they look like negatives. Not when I boot up my patch, not when I even apply the portrait. It's just the way that it's saving from the website to my PC. So pretty much I need to figure out a way to get just the portraits I want without them looking like negatives. Does that make sense? Like, it looks fine on the website, I download it and save it, I go to look at it... And everything on the sprite sheet is colored correctly except the portrait. Here's a pic.

How do I fix that?

Thats normal, shishi should clean it up on import for the port. You can use palette editor as well, load the sprite in there, click the first color on the sheet and itll fix the port. Then just save it
Help! / Re: Polearms/lances damaging 2 tiles?

Would seem a bit odd since it would imply that you are stabbing straight through the first unit...

That meaning said, it is a thing in at least 1 TRPG ive played... Maybe Vandal~Hearts or Saiyuki
Recruitment / Re: Tutorial Tools
December 24, 2020, 07:37:15 pm
Quote from: AriusScorpius on December 24, 2020, 04:07:44 pmHey guys! So, lately I've been delving into learning Unreal Engine and am interested in game development and such. However, I also would like to get into modding. I'm a pretty dedicated individual and I have plenty of self discipline and motivation, however, I was curious if any of the modding veterans around this site had a list of the most up to date modding tools used for FFT (both PSX and PSP are fine, I'd like to get my hands dirty with both eventually) and also a list of information/tutorials on how to use said tools. I've been watching this site for years and played most of the mods at least once. Jot5 and Celida's are a couple of my favorites (Thanks guys! Your work is part of what's motivating me to make this post!) and I'd like to eventually make something like that of my own. So, if there's any way any of you guys could point me in the right direction, I'm pretty eager to start learning and potentially helping or making my own mod in the near future. Thanks in advance!

Hey man. Most graphic stuff doesnt require anything aside from shishi these days, as glain added support for EVTCHR frames, Effects and Unit/WLDFACE.bin within shishi. So youd want the latest FFTP from the FFTP thread for pretty much anything to do with graphics or balance.

For events youll need the wiki and notepad at a minimum as well as the compiler/decompiler. The latter are both included in EVSP 2.0 and 2.1 so either works there.

For worldmap and conditions there is a sheet that isnt yet public but if you are okay with hex code then the old aheets for worldmap and attack.out conditions are still fine and if you know what you are doing, can be done faster that way anyway.

For scenarios and event order we have 2 different attack.out editors. Both work fine but the newest is Attack.out editor special awesome by Raven.

Hope this helps. Join discord if you havent already :)

Events are something you learn over time. Use the wiki for the instructions or EVSP. But its not an exact science, things can be done many different ways. It just takes time and practice, like learning any language
Quote from: PriceAintRight on December 01, 2020, 11:11:13 amI created an entire account to say thank you. FFT is my favorite game of all time and I'm so happy to see that a community not only still exists, but that you're doing crazy stuff like this!

Finna download and give it a shot immediately.

Hey thanks man! Glad you got some a good impression of it! Feel free to leave a review when you finish!
Help! / Re: Imported effects that freeze or crash
November 21, 2020, 05:38:54 pm
Quote from: CONMAN on November 21, 2020, 05:35:49 pmI recently started using Xifanie's ISO manager again (it's awesome).  I was importing some new effects and some would take while others wouldn't.  That was when I remembered that effects such as summons and draw outs (and apparently limits) simply don't seem to work.  I was a little disappointed that I couldn't use an Alexander summon that I created from Ifrit nor could I use "marsil" which was from Meteorain.  Granted, I could just replace the original files (they work fine in the original slots), but that sort of ruins the whole venture with the iso manager.

I have successfully imported and used other effects before with no issue.  I was curious if anyone had ever figured this out?  Effect files seem to have a lot of unknowns and digging through the message board and wiki didn't solve it for me.

Hey buddy, we gotta get ya onto Discord mang. Anyway, this is likely due to the sizes of the effects. We also have an alexander and phoenix summon for Jot5 that i had to make new files for. However its been like 5 years since i set that up and cant recall whether it was tested or not.

Unfortunately i think there is like maybe 2 people who have used that tool (both of us included, lol)
Quote from: Samson on November 14, 2020, 09:02:26 pmThat sucks, the brave story record does say he was slain. I thought it made no mention of his death, must've been a Mandela effect. Dang.

Pretty much everyone you meet in the vanilla game, who isnt recognized as "one of the good guys" dies
Quote from: Samson on November 14, 2020, 06:16:40 pmYou see him while he's bleeding to death, but he's still alive and talking. After the roof scene, he's nowhere to be found. Whether he actually dies or not is left inconclusive. Furthermore, the stone is left right beside him when Vormav kidnaps Alma. We even see the stone shining. Anything could've happened.

You are misremembering. He takes his last breath and drops the stone before alma is kidnapped. Post roof scene we see him again, there dead when Ramza runs into that very same room looking for Alma, AFTER Malak is revived.

You can also read his biography after this point. He is very much dead.
Quote from: Samson on November 14, 2020, 06:12:30 pmI'm quite certain that the cloaked stranger is Izlude. He technically never "dies", although the game hints that he does, he's still alive during his final scene, so perhaps he could've somehow survived. Perhaps when Malak was revived by the stone, so was Izlude.

Its not Izlude, he very much dies and takes his final breath in vanilla FFT
PSX FFT Hacking / Re: cant save/load
November 09, 2020, 12:09:15 am
Quote from: witchofdread on November 05, 2020, 05:54:50 pmso currently using PCSXR to play FFT, went to save and now its just flashing 'checking memory card'. Any ideas? Im currently using Cerabow's Mod.

No idea, even if he changed the SCUS it should still work fine with saving. Sounds more like an emulator issue. Have you tried another emulator to verify it does save? I know nothing of PCSXR except for on my raspberry pi.

Celdia's Complete Patch / Re: Crash on startup
October 16, 2020, 11:46:05 pm
Quote from: chaos128 on October 16, 2020, 07:42:25 pmHi Everyone, I am trying to play this mod, I have patched different FFT PSX bins that I've found online and I ePSXe 1.5.0 but everyone I run the bin the emulator crashes.  I am familiar with patching bins and isos, but I've never run across this problem before, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is there a reason you are using such an old version of ePSXe? While i don't see why that would be an issue, I would say to try ePSXe 2.0. However due to the load delay caused by ALMA (one of the ASM hacks used in this mod) it will likely freeze in some spots. I recommend you use the emulator pSX (or pSXFin) to play the mod. It's lightweight, requires no plugins, and is proven to be able to play the mod without issue.

Or Dart. It wouldn't make any sense if it was Dart so I'm changing my answer to Dart, the Red Dragoonranger

While these are both valid guesses, they are incorrect
