Quote from: nitwit on July 27, 2022, 10:03:37 amHow many of them leave forever after being caught in this trap?

None that have said anything
Quote from: Hillgrave on July 27, 2022, 11:08:02 amOoo, sneaky Elric. I'll look for the correct version later today and let you know if all is well.

In the mean time, thank you, thank you!

It is done that way to ensure that you read the resources thread, so i dont have to answer the same questions over and over.
Quote from: KiraHokuten on July 18, 2022, 11:01:26 pmin TLW Cloud's unit number is 19 which i cant seem to apply any cheat code as this unit strong codes does not exist, any ideas?

Clouds number didn't change in TLW at all.
Quote from: KiraHokuten on July 13, 2022, 04:02:13 amI would like to ask, I noticed there are 3 slots to learn for Ramza's squire abilities; 2 of which I know, Ultima and the summon skill but what is the 3rd one?

She literally said you will learn when you beat the game...
Quote from: MajinAkai on June 25, 2022, 09:02:16 amIf I wanted to change the text of an already existing event how would I do so?

For instance, I replaced Reis with Aerith and was wanting to remove all of the mushy gushy between her and Beowulf.

EasyVent for the event
FFTP - ENTD for changing the character
Quote from: daftgarion on June 16, 2022, 03:07:29 pmI'm really hoping someone adds the translation. It's a big effort, but I think a lot of the community would love it. I know 0 about how to do it, but it'd be amazing to see it done.

It's already been mentioned a plethora of times that I'm already doing (TLWotL) this for the whole 4 people who don't hate the terrible WotL translation...

Protip: Never suggest something to someone under the guise of 'because the community will really like it'. Someone taking the time to make such a large mod, already knows how the community will feel about it.
The point of the mod was to give other people a platform to mod on, or a fun way to play the game in its own right. We didn't take liberties that were not glaring issues.
Quote from: Holy2Tack on June 10, 2022, 11:31:03 amThis looks amazing!

I do have one question. I read the entire thread, including the collapsed bits. So I hope I didn't miss it, but is there any compatibility issues with The Lion War?

Every compatibility issue you can possibly think of, and then a few more

Quote from: scbw1234 on May 30, 2022, 03:39:44 amIs your new project TLWotL based on PSP version or PSX version?

PS: I think I can take the translation, what I find unbearable is actually the sound effect of PSP version, its a immersion breaker for me

please read the posts above this one for clarification.

Quote from: bee on May 20, 2022, 05:20:56 pm1. Does "TLWotL" stand for "The Lion War of the Lions"?
2. If so, that is hilarious. (this is not a question, I suppose...)
3. Is TLWotL just the translation, or are there any other differences to TLW?

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Translation, Zodiac Calendar, Skill cost changes, everything in tactext updated, alazlams speech updated and aligned, etc.

Quote from: scbw1234 on May 10, 2022, 05:46:36 amIs there any chance in the future you guys could give an option for implementing the WoTL translation? Or does this patch compatible with FFT Complete?

Its not compatible with FFTC. This mod is way too large for it to be compatible with that.

But yes, you will get to play the most terrible translation of a game ever written in about a month or so, whenever I finish up TLWotL.
Quote from: bee on May 05, 2022, 04:11:10 pmI just came across a thread in the WotL modding section, that said in no uncertain terms that WotL modding is a bad idea, compared to the PSX version.

I wanted to mod WotL because I think the cutscenes are beautiful, and some of the extra content is fun, but after seeing the thread, I was wondering if support is still as rough as it was ~6 years ago when the thread was created.

Thanks again for the help! 🐝

It doesn't say modding WotL is bad, it says not its nearly as viable as the tools, ASMs and everything else made to edit the games is 90% aimed toward the PS1 version. PS1 doesn't have the slowdown, the wonky sounds or any of that, and most people see it as the superior translation over the unrealistic faux old English used in WotL.

TLW has all the additional events and story bits. It also has the intro and opening movies. In the few places that there were movies in WotL that we didn't add, a new custom event was made instead.

The only things missing from TLW that wont be added at all are Onion Knight, FellSwords and the other equipment added via WotL. Everything else is there.
Quote from: badboi00 on May 02, 2022, 12:15:03 amhow do i add the mod, do i need to download the psx version or what

You need to read the included readme file...
Some of these are used for 3 different battles in the game (Lake, Yuguo, Zalera 2) the rest are used in the tutorial to make them work in a specific way.
Quote from: Rad on April 26, 2022, 10:21:25 amThank you, Nyzer. I'll see what I can do with that info :P It's mainly the slot numbers that has confused me a ton. + getting the correct files of course, since she's a bit of a less known character :/

Update: Managed to find where I needed to replace the sprites but it just gave me Error-messages back since I don't have the correct files to use. Wrong dimensions of the sprites/pictures and I have no idea where to find the correct ones :( Guess this is a dead-end. If someone figures out a way to get past this, please let me know <3

Yeeeeah, there is a ton of info on the forum about how to do exactly this. Rather than just throwing in the towel you should probably actually look thru the tutorials and such. It's all there. Celdia has a tutorial in that section for how to do exactly this...
Quote from: Ironside on April 12, 2022, 10:23:26 pmThat's encouraging.

And well, since I have you here... ;)

I've gotten a little familiar with EntryEdit but that's just modding vanilla FFT. When making an add-on TLW, I'm guessing any script-editing should be done on RavenOfRazgriz's EasyVent Editor?

That's been easy enough to use. Easier than EntryEdit even.

Yet if I want to playtest the script or actually implement it, how do I get it from EVSP's event directories to... y'know.. the ISO? I'm guessing compile the directory into the TEST.evt provided in TLW resources... but after that, I'm not sure what to do with it. Something with CDmage?

Compile your TEST with the EVSP found in one of the spoilers of the resource thread. Then reimport the test.evt using CDMage

You can also savestate event, but you should learn how to import the test.evt first off.

Quote from: KenoattX on April 13, 2022, 10:29:21 amIs there a way to import a standard psx save file?

Saves from other versions of the game will not work on TLW
Quote from: Ironside on April 09, 2022, 02:23:34 pmI did see this.

I wanted to compartmentalize just the script edit, though. Second Read has a lot of changes to gameplay and sprites so my idea was to restrict myself to JUST fixing the PSX translation with an emphasis on a totally new player's experience. Prioritizing clarity of the narrative above all else. I wanted to keep it modular so that people could use or discard it in conjunction with TLW as they please.

I like this idea personally. I am of the mind that a translation hack should never take other liberties outside of the text, as it will turn off many people who want a vanilla experience with a new take on the dialogue. Keep it up.
