Yeah something definitely looks wrong, like messed up colors or contrast.

Perhaps the black background just didn't prepare us for how dark she would look in comparison to the maps in the game.  It stood out against the black well enough, but not the map.

THe colors used in the sprite have to be made up of RGB values that are multiples of 4 (or 8 I forget which) to be compatible with the PSX. Normally it'll just default to the next closest color, but it can go wonky at times too.

I always figured as much, but thanks for this tidbit. I'll have to include it in the GraphicsGale tutorial.

Never knew that. Thanks for the info.

Kage, I think the color of the boots was overcontrasted. Hmm..
and maybe, you can try increasing the Lightness value of the darkest green color.

It looks like it's 8, as most of the colors I've looked at are multiples of eight. This doesn't apply to portraits though, I believe.

That's why I have done tests, now I see things that should be improved, the color is indeed dark, I will lighten it up a bit. Thanks for tip Vanya

Better. Did you also decreased the saturation for the boots?

also, the difference in brightness within the palette. Maybe you should straight rip your palette from another sprite.

Yep, you could try getting colors from either Female Summoner, Male Theif, Malak, Izlude, Barinten, or any other sprites with many shades of green. :)

edit: not to mention Dragon and Malboro.

I had a crack at the palette. Summoner green, Mustadio Yellow.

You might not want to use this Kage because I actually made some changes to the sprite. Added/removed a couple of small details and added a 4th green. But it's just to give you an idea anyway.

Yeah. The boots looks way better, and so as the colors. :P
Try making a palette similar to Asmo's, and test it to see the differences..

Often it is a good idea to sample colors directly from the original sprites.

Is there a plan to remove that skin town as the highlight for the hair? Because it really isn't working with the green hair color right now.

Take Cheetah's advice: with some of the blonds and lighter hair colors you can pull that off, but not with green. Either drop the highlight or add another green somehow. Asmo's edit looks pretty spot on, in my opinion. Great color choices man.

Going off Asmo's edit, if you use the second brown/gold/yellow shade from her boots as her second skin tone shade you should be able to add one more shade of green. Though those two shades I mentioned aren't all that close...

why people think that using a flesh colored sheen for the hair works in cases like these is beyond me...
