Maybe with less asm coding you can give him somes skill that cost mana and limit skill only usable if you've 0 mana (this part will need asm coding (maybe via ARH))

That said, the limit damage based on current target HP serves this purpose (first you'll want to hit your target and when it's hp is low, cast the limit (you can extend this with MP, maybe speed power etc... (you damage the speed first and then you'll use a limit that does low-speed related damage.

With ASM you can create a status (or think how to use an existing one), cloud will have some skill that have a chance to add this status (or better, materia blade could be the only weapon that can add this status) while limit can only work on target with this status (via canceling it), it's a little random based (not like the original cloud, but it could give some fun (or frustration :) ))

If you feel like going through a whole bunch of work, you could make his limit skill a little bit more like in game limits.
if you replace Mana with stamina, let's say, then rework a rather useless support ability (in my case, equip spears), you could give SOLDIER an innate ability that lets him recover stamina by hitting things.
give him a massive stamina pool, and drastically raise the cost of his limits to match, you can remove the charge time and that's... relatively close to the original game.

Cloud's role overlaps with both Draw Out and Swordskillers. One goal is to make him stand out. My idea for that, which isn't great, is to give him different ways of dealing damage. He already has Blade Beam, Climhazzard, Finish Touch. Replace one of the MA*K attacks with gravity damage, for example.

Blade Beam compares unfortunately with Beowulf's Shock!. Cloud can't get as much HP (no Armor and needs to commit to MA), so the damage isn't as good. He's more vulnerable than Beowulf at low HP because Charging disables Reaction/Evasion. Shock! is range 8, while Cloud needs to be up close.

It's also possible to revamp Cloud to be more like FF7. I didn't know for years that his Limit Breaks were physical attacks. Why are they MA-based here?

You can give him a single Limit skill which looks at his current HP% and casts a Limit Break skill.

I like the concept and am surprised I haven't thought of it before. I don't think it's a good fit, but it's an idea.

For the love of god lol.
I really would love to complain about how much time its taking but when i see these things i just need to shut up and wait lol XD

Amazing job guys. I think when its finished you should ask square enix to allow you guys to sell it, after paying copyrights or whatever or splitting the money, i think its going to sell A LOT of copies.
Anyway.. just a though.

The Lion War / Rendezvous Ideas Thread

There are nine Rendezvous slots remaining right now, and Elric is definitely considering doing something up for them. We were talking about it here on the Discord when I figured, hey, why not put out a topic in case anyone has any good ideas that they want to mention?

Here's what we have so far.

  • Chocobo Race: Unlocks at the start of Ch. 2. Map 103, Windmill Shed.
  • Treasure Hunt: Unlocks at the start of Ch. 2. Map 78, Zigolis Swamp.
  • Teioh: After the Zaland/Mustadio battle. Map 80, Araguay Woods.
  • Lost Heirloom: After saving Besrodio. Map 40, Slums in Goug.
  • The Fete: At the start of Ch. 3. Map 13, Inside of Lionel Castle.
  • Desert Minefield: After Orbonne Monastery. Map 76, Zeklaus Desert.
  • Littering: After Yardow's Rafa/Malak battle. Map 27, Goland Coal City.
  • Shades of the Past: At the start of Ch. 4. Map 91, Thieves' Fort.
  • The Knights Templar: After the Bethla Sluice battle. Map 3, Hall of St. Murond Temple.
  • All-Star Melee: After the Murond battles. Map 22, Magic City Gariland.
  • The Guarded Temple: After the Murond battles. Map 70, Nelveska Temple.
  • Nightmares: After the Murond battles. Map 17, Underground City of Limberry Castle.
  • Brave Story: After the Murond battles. Map 61, Underground Book Storage Fifth Floor.
  • Ill Wind: After the Murond battles. Map 49, Fort Zeakden.

Currently, the treasure wheel works by saving the Current Map Number to another variable during the rendezvous event, and then checking that during the treasure wheel to determine which loot set the player should get. As a result, any new Rendezvous battles should not use maps already in use.

It'd be a bit preferable to get a one-battle Rendezvous to go with the After Sluice unlock (as the Knights Templar is a battle sequence) and to get a sequence to go with the Chapter 4 unlock, as the treasure wheel currently increases the odds of rare items & number of chests to open if the player did a battle sequence rather than just one battle.

The ideal might be to add one battle to every unlock point that only has one battle as is. There are five pre-Chapter 4 Rendezvous like this, and the two previously mentioned post-Ch.4 Rendezvous. That still leaves two more Rendezvous free, which can maybe be added into those two Chapter 4 points.

So if anyone's ever had any ideas for some possibly interesting one-off battles in FFT, now's the time to mention them! If Elric likes an idea well enough, you might see it featured in the next release of The Lion War!
