Does anyone know a good way to make it so some monsters can equip <Random> items? Is there any way to make them equip items are all?

In my patch (which I just realized I should put in my signature now that I have a thread for it), I've found so far that merely checking off boxes seems to not work. (That or they at least won't go out of the way to equip them by themselves, which is weird because I only did it for non-weapons since I figured that would be a problem anyway.)

It seems like you might have to add them via ENTD (too), which seems like huge pain in the ass.

IIRC, I think LastingDawn was trying to this as well, but I'm not sure what the results were.

It worked perfectly for me, but you will need to go through Every ENTD making sure that the monsters you have, have (Random) for every slot, and to make what they can equip in their class agenda.

make sure you dont allow them to equip ANYTHING in their hand slots.

not shields or weapons. other than that you should encounter no problems

I had figured that weapons wouldn't work, but Shields won't either?

Damn. Oh well. That was only for one monster anyway....

well its because they display a shield gfx in the sprite, it tries to call the "shield block" animation which monsters dont have, it will work but youll have a glitchy looking monster at the time hes blocking with it.
