you guys remember that multiplayer patch i was working on a bit ago? well me and tithin were gonna play Dissidia on your PSPs over Xlink Kai, when he brought up itd be a good idea to play FFT to.

Obviously neither of us had 1.3 maxed, battle ready characters, so we decided to do this vanilla style.

unfortunatly time is an issue, and he had to go before we finished setting up.

Before he went off though i tossed this idea at him

Quote<SentinalBlade> you know the old PSX FFT Tourny?
<SentinalBlade> where we let the AI battle a person's setup out?
SentinalBlade> i was going ot post to see if people would like to do an FFT tourny with their setups, and we fight eachother using them
<SentinalBlade> instead of quirky AI
<SentinalBlade> any interest?

seems cool no? having the old tourny from the PSX within capable hands, rather than a one sided AI. not saying that either of us is really a tactical genius, but you get the picture.

Well, we choose vanilla growths and job stats. but im almost 90% sure that skills will almost all be like 1.3, and the items will more than likely follow the same lines as 1.3, but with some obvious exceptions to things that might be useless/overpowered during multiplayer. ninja suit wont need its transparent in multiplayer...so tweak it a bit more...

Point is, me and tithin will act out your setups, like the PSX tournys. but with human thought.

Some things you should be totally aware of before you post your setups;
No Math Skill, it will probably just be 1.3 if we do it.
No perma Reraise
No OHKO items like vanilla chaos blade.
Move-MP-Up, mp switch combo. they can be used seperatly, but not together.
Blade grasp is removed
A limit of 3 items other than items belonging to the "item" skillset. that means no throwing hundred or so chaos blades and hten having 99 chances with kiyomori.
No limit on skillsets. if you want 5 people with draw out. be my guest, but you still only get 3 katanas. maybe less by the time these rules are finalized.
Brave will be randomly generated by the Soldier Office, We will choose 8 generics from the soldier office and use the best of the brave/faith for that setup as we can. this makes it a decent need ot have adaptation to your strategies.
Considering that with the new PSP multiplayer system, there really is no "one of a kind item" anymore, there isnt a fairness in limiting them to like 2 nagarocks cause thats how many are readily avaliable.
As far as we know, Tithin is fine with every character mastering every job.
Because we are humans we can choose a spell that we thinks fits best against the opponents setup. rather than forcing a samurai to have this much jp and learn this ability because the AI uses this ability as a priority for its general usefulness.

Lets here them :D i want lots of posts for tithin to come to when he gets off work.

Any other rules/regulations? such as brave/faith ranges or JP allowances? If for whatever reason I wanted to field a team of 5 Archers with secondaries split between punch art and draw out, would that be okay? what about equipment limits other then specifically banned items?

I think that covers all my questions, I'll start messing around with teams later, it'll probally make a good distraction from my monster writters block (literally, i'm having writters block about the remaining monsters in SoR).

lol...Ogre(im modifying quaklin sprite to be... less grotesque and more brutish) it was kind of a preliminary thing to see if it would run, but i really started working on it last night...about 4 hours ago, and it grew on me. if you got any thoughts on that feel free to post that in the monster thread.

again, blade grasp isn't a top-teir reaction in pvp.  You can keep it as is.

And back at Super Tact pretty much everything is limited to two occurences to prevent super-stacked comps.

What're the levels here?  99?

And I post how many teams? :D

as many as you want. me and tithin will do a few until we think we get a good match up and then start the recording. or we may just try them all randomly and do a secret tourny until we get the top 10 teams.

Blade grasp is actually pretty...well badass, sword skills are the only thing you need to worry about with it...since throw stone and things are HARDLY worth the turn to use them and do minuscule damage. in limited brave it is, but even iwth a 69 brave...you still win quite a few evasions.

Two occurences of abilities and/or items? like only two people with item skillset and 2 people with...fairy shoes or wth makes you float.

As long as im nto detecting abuse... like critical quick things and shit, i dont see why you cant have a party of 5 bars all with mp switch. its a valid tactic that isnt hard to overcome, but still provides its vantages if commanded the right way.

Two occurence of abilities.  Items I think are free reign, but in Tact we're rarely a max level and if so the only thing limited is like... theif hat.  With the two-per team limit on abilities (and thus classes) item stacking is a bit rare, except for green beret/theif hat :p

That said, one of my old teams, modified slightly!

Ninja - Spell Edge
Talk Skill - Spell Edge
MP Switch - Theif Hat
Concentrate - Power Sleeve
Move +3 - Germainas Boots

Monk - <empty>
Basic Skill - <empty>
MP Switch - <empty>
Attack Up - Earth Clothes
Move +3 - Germainas Boots

Chemist - <Mythril Gun, unless Stone Gun is available and then equip change>
Time Magic - <empty>
Auto-Potion - Golden Harpin
Magic Def. Up - Rubber Costume
Move +2 - Feather Mantle

Priest - P-Bag
Summon Magic - empty
Auto-Potion - Holy Miter
Short Charge - White Robe
Move +2 - Feather Mantle

Lancer - Best Spear
Sing - Best Shield
Damage Split - Best Helm
Def. Up. - Best Armor
Move +3 - Angel Ring

I'll add more as I dig through my Tact archives =D

Needs more info.

What battlefield?
What level fight?

If Br/Fa is generated for the team to suit the team, all teams will run high brave/low faith.

QuoteIf Br/Fa is generated for the team to suit the team, all teams will run high brave/low faith.

assuming draw out provides haste + protect/shell, certainly.  Otherwise, time and white magics are must-haves for any decent team, which usually results in 70 Fa casters + 50 fa best compat non-casters.

you guys are weird. its generated by soldier office, we just choose what we can out of the 8 soldiers we hire.

IT is ran high end, level 99, although i couldve swore i posted that in reply to philsov, and that first thing i mentioned has been in the OP for awhile :P
Battlefield will be choosen at random. most likely we will get a 2 outa 3 kinda system, so your not shafted by the various effects one specfic map has. such as one end has higher starting position and such.

Special Characters are fine.

This is, as stated in OP, 1.3 but with vanilla job stats(we dont have a 1.3 stat calculator and im not making one cause then people would bug me for it so they could cheat).

Also, this still is PSP version. so keep in mind you have a few more abilities, classes, and items to work with. such as females get move +3 also now.

Quote from: "Argg0"1-) Team consisting of 4 generic human characters on level 38, all controled by AI, either Save Fadding Life or Run Like a Rabbit. Stats will come from http://www.geocities.com/zouf300/charts.html.
2-) Brave ranging from 40 to 70, total brave on the team must be 220.
3-) Faith ranging from 40 to 70, total faith on the team must be 240.
4-) Each unit has 2450 JP to spend in various abilities. As in FFT, each unit cannot spend points toward an ability before filling Job level requirements for the prerequisite jobs. For example, a character could not buy speed break without allocating 200 JP to squire (to make knight accessible). They might choose to spend 150 on Heal, and leave 50 extra in squire, but they need to allocate the 200. Units are not required to spend the entire 2450.
5-) Only one unit on a team can buy any individual ability. So two units could have the Punch Art ability set but only one could have purchased Earth Slash. Innates do not count for that, so you can have a Chemist and a Knight with Throw Item.
6-) Banned Abilities: Zodiac, Level, Exp (both from Calc), All Throw abilities except Balls and Shuriken, Elixir.
7-) Equipments: No doubles, so you can't use two Power Sleeves in different units. Everything to Checkpoint 10 (after Zalmo 1). As in here: http://project-yvalice.wikispaces.com/Tact_Equip_Check
8-) Throw and Item have unlimited stock. Auto Potion will always be potion (yes, it is worthless this way).

If you need rules, old school rules here, and I am in
