Vote for FFT in the Smithsonian's "Art of Videogames" exhibit

Hey guys, for those of you that weren't aware, the Smithsonian is going to be showing a "Videogames as Art" exhibition in their Art Museum soon. To help decide which games to show, they're letting the public vote for the games they think best represent the medium as an art form. You can vote for Final Fantasy Tactics there, as well as a host of other games from each system going back to the early 80s.

You don't have to vote for every game, so I only voted for the games I was familiar with. I also tried to vote for games that I thought would be better representatives of the medium as an art form rather than the games I enjoyed the most. For example, I voted for Earthbound over Chrono Trigger and Zelda: A Link to the Past (tough choice though).

Anyway, I thought I'd share the link here:

Not quite sure I like how it's done by popular vote. There are quite a few games I'd consider very artistic that are niche games.

Surprised Earthbound is on the list, since it's one of those games.

earthbound got tons of (very)post-release mainstream press particularly from the smash brothers series with some minor bumps from the mother3 translation project, not surprised to see it(sucks it has to go up against chrono, its screwed).  skies of arcadia on the other hand, THAT was a shocker

really, I wouldn't give FFT an "art of videogames" vote, its art doesn't stick with me like many of its time. but considering what its up against... the ps1 C&C and carnage heart?  that's not a tough choice

side note:  how the hell am i supposed to pick between metroid, smb3 and megaman 2? how? how? how?

the amount of cross-system games makes me /twitch a bit, and the fact that the PC isn't even considering until 95 onward makes me a bit sad.

And then I go from "a bit sad" to "crying a river of tears" when I see matchups like Diablo II to TIE Fighter, largely because I'm a snob and TIE fighter is worlds ahead of diablo II, artistically, but there's no hope against that much of a fanbase.  Same can be said for several games, really.  Chrono Trigger vs. Earthbound would be an interesting debate on matters of artistic merit, though.  Not that earthbound sadly stands a chance against the mob.

And, holy crap, WoW vs. Fallout 3 vs. Kotor?  WoW by sheer volume, but Fallout actually has immersion.  Ugh.
Just another rebel plotting rebellion.
