Or:
See how the cape flips out a bit in the front view above? Should I just change it to match the back view? By making it more static.
Or should I go with this (directly above)
I like the way the cape moves in the front view as is but can't get it to look quite right from the back. Any suggestions?

Finally a new female knight...this is awesome. my only complaint is the wierd bulge of dark pixels on the right side of the cape when it moves left, they look odd to me. Maybe its standard though.

Lijj

That's the arm swinging out. I see something is not quite right with the grey part ; the shoulder. might be easy to fix.
Well here's what I got so far.. Now I need to take a break and cook some dinner.
Might not be able to work again til tonight; Some crits would be good I want to finish this very soon!

Asmo X

The way the cape moves when she's walking is fucking stupid man. The left side of the cape tucks in when she moves her left arm forward and the bottom right corner of cape curls up. It looks really unnatural. The sprite is otherwise pretty good.

Zozma

i think part of it is that it doesnt appear to move as much to the right side as it does to the left (closer POV)

Wiegraf: Draw your sword Ramza!
Ramza: But im a monk!!

Ran Master

Working on an edit of the female generic thief class.
I think the regular ones are fugly.

It does seem unnatural...Perhaps it's mainly the bottom; the curling that looks odd. Hopefully with a clear mind I can have a better conception of how this should move tomorrow.. hopefully with more advice too. Maybe the cape should just move the other way sans curling all together...IDK but will update tomorrow early.
Crits are very helpful.. we've already fixed the hair pretty much due to them(and as I said I want to finish very soon so help)

Edit(I've always hated that damned bandanna; so unflattering)tight. I'm glad someone else has started this generic upgrading. Be sure to give them a major make-over!

Haha, Lijj: Slowly changing the game as we know it, without actually changing the game!

I'm still having trouble getting into pixel work, but I think I'm going to focus on portraits rather than sprites once I am able.
Who knows, maybe one day I'll be able to work on sprites as well.

Then I can help out here, assuming you haven't done them all by then!
Heh, you'll probably be re-redoing them all by the time I manage spriting.

As the puppeteer pulls His strings,
The fragile doll spreads Her wings.
To dance a ballet as He directs
That is the Curse of the Marionette.

Controlled by a hand far, far above,
Forbidden to care, forbidden to love.
Forever shall She mime what She cannot know,
Until the day She loses her illusory glow.

Propped up on a stilt where wine once stood,
The Marionette is, once more, only wood.
Her glossy eyes have lost their shine,
Her silken hair, turned to twine.

What a fate awaits the poor little doll,
Who dances and runs but cannot stand at all.
And the puppeteer is applauded at the end of every show,
But the audience's joyous response the doll can never know.

I am but a doll on an endless stage,
Dancing for others whilst I slowly age.
My puppeteer sits far above,
Hiding His face behind a white glove.

And when I have aged to nothing but wood,
I will be tucked away in a closet where a doll once stood.
Then, as I gather dust and the world passes by,
I will be forgotten by the vast, blue sky.

I can't do anything but this and spell effects I could never learn hex or ASM so ya Changing the game without really changing any program is as good as I can do.
Hackers are the Yang and us pixlers are the Yin.
I'm glad you take an interest in it.. You could start by using layers of other ports and collage them together until you're imbued with the FFT style.
Anyone interested in doing a port for this while I finish?

Haha, I'm sorta a Yin Yang then. Mari, I think spriting is easier than portraits, but don't wait too long, start practicing now. It is time consuming, and very difficult, but making sprites is rewarding somehow, especially when you are 100% done with one of them. It stays on here forever  (<- those are joy tears)

@Ran Master: Thats a damn fine portrait you made there! Nice!
There ain't no gettin' offa this train we on!

Mari

I can't start right now, I'm going to be starting my new job in less than 2 weeks, so I'd like to get settled into that before I worry about other hobbies.

GeneralStrife

I think jon should try his hand at lijis port tbh

Lijj

Update:

I just got rid of the legs so I could focus more on the cape; then I re-added them. Now it makes more sense I think

Jon

@GeneralStrife: Which portrait, Lijj's avatar or of the female Knight??

Lijj, is that her neck right above where the cape ends? I think the cape is looking better. But something is weird when the hair moves what is inbetween the two strands is what looks funky. The pixels keep changing colors...

Lijj

The Knight's portrait...  But stick with that Castlevania Chapter.
Yes I know what you mean. What's in between the hair is her right shoulder pad.. I've already worked the arms a bit (why do I always end up spending so much time on those arms?):/
But need to just redo all of the far arm's shoulders tomorrow... I've finished all the frames save the fighting ones and the water ones so shouldn't be long.
(Does that mean I'll have to spend a lot of time on the fighting arms which I haven't even started? YES)

Jon

Lol at I'll kill you in your port, Lijj. I should make my port a moving gif as well, like blinking animation or something... As for Castlevania, I might have to radically change my ways here because I can't figure out for the world how to change things that happen in events. I can change the map, music, dialogue, and the characters, but I don't know how to control them from moving around. I think I should start slower with a patch that more or less imitates the original FFT. What I mean is that there for now must be a Orbonne opening because otherwise the characters will move around funny on other maps. Maybe I should just do a Legend of Zelda patch...in the SNES game it begins almost in a church, once you escort Zelda there...plus I did just make Link and the game has no whips but does have swords...I'll think about this long and hard, either Castlevania or Legend of Zelda, hmmm. I think either way people will like it.

GeneralStrife

You're talking about EVENTCHR. You can change the event sprites so they dont add a pallete to the normal sprite and screw it up.

Jon

I have the EVENTCHR viewer I believe, the one that requires 2 Battle.BIN and EVTCHR.BIN to function, but I don't know which ?????? does what. I didn't want to screw around with it because I figured it might mess up the ISO.
