PSX FFT Hacking / Compilation Of Talcall's hacks

This is a compilation of hacks I have made that may not exist individually on the forums already, in order to make them more accessible to others.
I will update the post when I make more hacks.
Feel completely free to use these, as long as you reference me :D

Hacks so far:
  • Blade grasp becomes awareness (all sides C-ev%)
  • (some) Thief abilities become faith based (underpowered. it'll work for my complete mod, promise!)
    • steal helmet - Kindness, absorb HP
    • steal armor - Temperance, absorb MP
    • steal shield - Patience, absorb CT
    • steal weapon - Chastity, dispel target, esuna user
    • steal accessory - Diligence, berserk target, protect user

A change in CT can't go above 116, due to limitations in CT alteration.

yeah. FFTacttext is famous for having issues loading text properly from an already patched version of the game. make sure you save FFtacttext files frequently.
If you feel like going through a whole bunch of work, you could make his limit skill a little bit more like in game limits.
if you replace Mana with stamina, let's say, then rework a rather useless support ability (in my case, equip spears), you could give SOLDIER an innate ability that lets him recover stamina by hitting things.
give him a massive stamina pool, and drastically raise the cost of his limits to match, you can remove the charge time and that's... relatively close to the original game.
give or take.

if you're just editing skill names, you're better off copy-pasting what you have into a separate word document, then opening a fresh copy of FFTactText that hasn't opened an already patched ISO, and copy-pasting the stuff in the word document back into FFTactText
It isn't just the (rather unfair) difficulty of the Luso fight, it's the squid demons as well
their reaction ability, Nature's Wrath, is extremely overpowered. unless you OHKO them, your Unit is basically guarranteed to be OHKO'd themselves.
if you're giving monsters human abilities, you need to re-balance their magic stat. it is absolutely a must.
end game, squids can deal 999 damage with nature's wrath, necessitating a 1 hit KO

To explain Nyzer, (despite being severely underknowledged and I really should not be stepping in),
Several formulas do indeed have a no Status or "NS" condition that completely prevents the skill from inflicting any status ailments or buffs. Using the FFTPatcher, you can scroll through and find out which ones they are.
if you're thinking of changing this, consider delving into their Routines to see what's similar about them, that would cause NS.

Help! / Can't find Excel spreadsheet & tool; More jobs

Apologies to whom it may concern, I can't seem to locate the excel spreadsheet someone made that allowed for more jobs to be created, (from my understanding) in the shadow of other jobs, and I was really keen to look into it to see if i couldn't fiddle around. If anyone has any information, It would be incredibly helpful!
Another problem (that I solved with tedious Copy paste) is that you may be trying to modify an already patched ISO. TacText is known to have several issues when loading an already patched ISO, though the wiki goes into little detail about it.
If you want to keep all the text changes, your best bet is to open a notepad, and copy everything into there, to copy it back with a new and fresh, unedited instance of FFT.
I'd like to report a problem with the ENTD data you've set up,
it doesn't seem like Cid gets the job Dark knight after he joins. could this have something to do with the requirement to kill 20 units, and master the jobs knight and black mage rather than just have them at a level? just postulating, curious if you could see what's up!

I've gotten back into my mini-project, creating 'chapter 1.5' (or the missing chapter as I've called it), and I was wondering if there was a simple way to test events, with like an external program? or do I have to replace say the first event in the game for a quick and easy way to test it?
does EasyVent editor super perfect 2.0 have some sort of event-viewing functionality that I havent found yet? that'd be embarrassing

I've also attached the text file I've uh... 'created' so far. it's not much to look at unless you want to criticise my writing, which is valid

The only help I can think of offering is up the job level of orlandeu/orlandu
The abilities he knows are all known by other jobs making it hard to edit their properties so editing the amount of jp orlandeu has may make the spend the excess on some more abilities? I believe that's how that function works anyhow. I'm not too qualified to answer the question but I've done what I can to help
I feel like this is more of a "I'll get to it when i get there" issue, however I would like to ask here beforehand in case i get something wrong.

I want to input cut-scene events between "partings" and the "chapter 2 start", particularly, in this order:
2 cut-scenes,
1 battle with a pre-battle scene,
2 cutscenes,
a still-image with text (in between the last cut-scene and the next),
and a cutscene,
how would i go about this? is there some kind of "call event" I can use?
You may have a fair point about delita, his story is definitely meant to be interpreted after the fact. And besides, I think someone was doing a king of Ivalice hack that was all about delita?
I'll keep his story interaction short and maybe only use a black screen with dialogue.
Something along the lines of someone finding him, and him being so cold probably misinterpreting them as being teta, (he does say teta saved him at zeakden at the ziechile falls Bridge, and I find her actually doing that unlikely)
And yes, hired by gafgarion, is the location blanked as well? I couldn't find anything particularly enlightening on the Wikipedia Page, just that he put himself up for hire... (and changed his name, that's very important)
Regardless I think this thread is getting too long for its original purpose.
I am determined to make this happen. I already have a general list of things I need to get this started (which now includes patching my game over with TLW)
Write a story board up, with locations and characters
Code the events, that's the most important part I think,
Then work on random and story battles.
(probably do some tweaking and balance, most Story enemy levels after chapter 1 may have to be buffed up a few)
Maybe this does need a team, but tonight I'm tired enough to call myself a one man army!
this mood may change by morning, or at most after school tomorrow. That stuff is taxing  :?
