The Lion War / Re: The Lion War 2.0 Bug Reports

Quote from: Elric on October 15, 2021, 09:56:05 pmThe tutorial does not say anything about not needing to expand the image. It tells you you DO still need to expand it. It just mentions that the expand method in newer shishi no longer increases the image size. You are misreading what was written...

482 was originally mislabeled as 492, use the packaged resources as instructed and ignore the typo

Noted. I appreciate the reply. I'll try again and see if I run into any problems.

Hi there, I'm trying to build my own ISO of TLW 2.021 (to put in my own edits of Ramza's skills). According to the tutorial, by using Shishi 0.493 B7, there should be no need to expand the ISO.

QuoteNOTE: You will need to expand your clean image with Shishi before adding all the sprites, if you are creating a build from scratch. However, as of .493 B7, Shishi no longer needs to increase your image size to expand the iso, fixing several bugs.

However, when I tried to insert Bremondt's sprite (Sprite>Import BMP...), I am met with this error:

What am I doing wrong? I am using a BIN/CUE of FFT (with file size 541 315 152 bytes). I used the ShishiSpriteEditor.exe in /6. TLW ASM (Patch Last)/ASM (FFTP .493 B7)/. I was able to properly insert Aliste's sprite, then changed both SHP and SEQ to TYPE1. I proceeded with 3B - Bremondt Type 2.bmp, then I got the above-mentioned error.

Addendum:
Also, according to the instructions here: https://i.imgur.com/o12AYZy.jpg
I should use FFTPatcher 492 to patch only DATA xml. And yet, the included folder in the Resources download are only version 493 B7 and 482. The exact folder name inside the The Lion War 2.021 Resources.7z I downloaded is /6. TLW ASM (Patch Last)/DATA (FFTP .482)/. Is this just a typo? Apologies for being "neurotic" about the instructions, I am trying to follow the instructions to the letter but I am confused by some of the inconsistencies and errors I have encountered, since there's no mention of this in the tutorial.

Elric, everything seems to have worked! I just repatched all ASMs on my 1.04 image. I can open the ability menus of females again. Need more testing of course, but for now I'm a happy bee.

Hi Elric, great job with the update! Awesome! Just gotta ask again, I have a "customized" 1.04 image file like I said before. Is it necessary to re-do my whole customization again for 1.05? Or can I just re-patch the ASM hacks from the 1.05 set?

I'm doing the Resource Pack method of patching BTW

That error is fine. Its stating error in error lol.

OrgASM has no prompt. Just give it 30 seconds to a minute to be safe, then close it. In reality its done in about 3 seconds

Great! Thanks! Then that should mean my build should be perfect.

One last question:

I managed to successfully build my own patch of TLW, but at the end I got this "error" from FFTorgASM. Is this normal and just ignore it?

And I also didn't get a message from orgasm such as "Patch successful" or anything like that. How can I tell if it patched correctly?

Yeah I just realized that. So I'll be patiently waiting for this weekend so I can start my nth playthrough. Lol. This time with Ashley fucking Riot.

Hope it isn't too difficult for amateur modders to build TLW with edits. All I intend to do are custom sprites, change a few job names and descriptions, and add a few skills to Ramza's ch2-3 and ch4 jobs.

The new posts since last visit doesn't really work for me since my last visit must be 2 years ago or something XD

But thanks for the update Elric! Too late though since I already "customized" by TLW 1.03 with spiffy custom sprites and portraits, boo.

Oh well. Just have to do it all over again lmao.

EDIT: Correction on that. Almost 4 years, since my last post was January of 2016. Whenever I'm itching to play FFT, I'm always led back to this place. For the past decade. Lmao.

EDIT #2: And I just realized you can't just got directly edit The Lion War patched ISO using FFTacText, Shishi, and all other tools without breaking the mod. I just realized it now after I just broke Gaff and Agrias' in-battle Orbonne conversation. A couple of hours work down the drain XD. Serves me right for not reading. I guess I'll be waiting for the 1.04 update then :)

Are there any huge bugs or pending bug fixes for TLW in the near future? Or is it safe to say that 1.03 is the last version for awhile? I'm hoping to kinda start modding it. But I won't start if there's a version 1.04 in the horizon.

Awww damn that's rough. I guess I'll just wait until people make difficulty patches for TLW. Thanks for the reply though!

I love playing TLW but I have to admit it's gotten easy for me, as a vet of the game. I really wanted to try the Ashley character but can't find the details of the job and skills. I don't mind creating and editing Ashley in myself into one of the difficulty patches using the patcher and tactext, but I don't know the "recipe" to create him.

Specifically, I want to use the Emergence hack or Kind of hack for the PSP version to replace Luso with Ashley.

Nice. That means I won't be starting my playthrough yet though. I'd rather wait until you release. Thanks!

Hey any news on the next version? I love your hack, and I'm itching for a replay of FFT. Your edit is perfect for my purposes :D

Spriting / Re: Amici's sprites
September 28, 2015, 10:53:50 pm
Can anyone help me with the portrait? I can't seem to fix the weirdness going on on the back of his head, and he looks a bit feminine. Been playing with the sprite for awhile and testing it, it really is complete unless anyone else has suggestions, but the portrait needs work, and I hope to hear from any of our portrait masters :)

I use FFT: KO for the PSP version, I think it's the most complete mod for a 'vanilla experience'. That is until TLC gets released :)

Help! / Re: Switching Generic Jobs color pallettes
September 26, 2015, 11:57:38 pm
You have graphics gale. All you have to do is drag the colors around in the Palette window. You'll see a 16x16 grid for the palette once you open on GG. Topmost row is the default palette for sprite, 9th row from the top is the default palette for the portrait.

Say the palette you want is on the 3rd row. Drag the 1st color on the 1st row and switch it with the 1st color on the 3rd row. Do the same for the 2nd to 16th colors. Also switch up the colors of the 9th row (which corresponds to the 1st row), and the 11th row (which corresponds to the 3rd row) to switch the palettes of the portraits too.

This is how I easily switch up palettes, and also easily test and create palettes of my own (I think generic jobs have 4 or 5 palettes only by default, so you have 3 minimum blank color palettes to work with. Remember that rows 1-8 are for the sprite itself, and rows 9-16 are for the portrait.
