Replacing Byblos with a human custom character

Hey, sorry for the long silence.  I'm still plugging away at my patch.

I've heard that it's possible to replace Byblos with a different character.  I'm familiar with changing character classes in general; I changed Ramza's chapter 4 sprite and I altered the skillset, stats and growths of literally every special character.  I'm having some trouble with Byblos, though, since I want to replace him with a human character instead of a monster and he shares a sprite with the Apandas.  I know that I can change his gender and such in the ENTD, but I'm not sure how to proceed from here.  Is there an unused spritesheet that I can overwrite?  Failing that, I have a couple of unused generic classes; could I use one of those spritesheets?  Will just setting a different gender and spritesheet even work?  I'd really appreciate a step-by-step on this one, but even a point in the correct direction would be nice.

If you replace Byblos' ENTD entry in the FFTPatcher with something else it'll change to what you want. Like if you set it to Female, give it agrias' spritesheet and job then it would be another Agrias joining you instead of Byblos.

Thanks for the answer.  I suspected as such.  My next question is, are there unused spritesheets/jobs I could cannibalize in order to make him into a completely new character, instead of just a copy of one I already have?  I can't just replace the Byblos sprite, since it's just a palatte swap of the Apandas.  Although I suppose I could go through and replace all of the Apandas with Ultima Demons or something, but that seems like a cheap way out.

EDIT:  So I see that there are unused sprite sheets for Celia and Lede.  Let's say I replaced those with (for example) the Alucard sprite in Shishi.  What do I overwrite in FFTEVTGRP?  What do I set as Byblos's sprite sheet in FFTPatcher?  I know how to do each individual part of this, but not how to link them all together.  The lists in each program don't seem to line up at all.

For FFTEVGRP (Is that the name? I haven't used it in awhile): There is an excel sheet or something lying around that allows you to change what thing is attached to a job. Hopefully someone will come in and tell you what it is, because i have never used it so I wouldn't know.

For FFTPatcher: You would replace the spritesheet with the same number as the sprite in ShiShi, except I think you have to go one forward. For example, if the unused Celia was 3C or something, in FFTP you would set it as 3D. Make sure to use the Job with the same number to avoid errors!

Thanks a ton, Jumza.  You saved me some bugs I would never have found through trial and error.  I really appreciate the way you take your time to answer all of these questions.

EDIT:  Got it!  I found the key to the answer in this thread:

The way to do it is to write over the unused Celia or Lede sprite with either Simon or Balmafula, and then write over the one you copied with your new sprite.  Since Simon and Balmafula have FFEVGRP (I was spelling that wrong) entries, you can import your unit portrait and battle placement sprite from there.  Then you need to go through the ENTD and find Simon/Balmafula and replace their sprite sheet with the unused Celia/Lede sprite you used.  Those sprite sheets are blank in FFTPatcher, but as Jumza said they're one place ahead of their position in Shishi.
