FFTA playthrough

Pickle Girl Fanboy

I picked FFTA up again, and started playing a save that had about 100 missions.  Over 50 hours, I completed nearly 150 more missions, and then I hit a wall.  Of frustration.

1. Laws.  They suck.  I spent maybe ten of those hours replaying missions where I forgot a law.  Solution = gameshark 20 Allmighty anti-laws.
2. Item roulette.  One of the first missions I encountered required Item Z.  To get Item Z, I needed to complete another mission with two of Item Y.  I could go on, but I'm bored with the alphabet joke, so I'll finish by saying that item hunting when you have only 64 Mission Item slots and 14 possible Missions (actually 11, due to a bug) available at any given time, some of which require certain jobs is very tedious, and is so incredibly convoluted that I don't think this aspect of the game can be salvaged no matter how much it's hacked.  Solution = gameshark a mission item when you need it.
3. Time wasting.  Those five seconds it takes the judge to move - usually in your way - and whistle really add up after a few hundred missions.  Ditto the six second "Flee Battle" graphic and jingle.
4. The plot.  It was cute for the first third of the game, but now it's just another burden to bear.
5. The jobs can be made to work with some hacking, but then you must readjust every piece of equipment and every mission.  It's not worth it.
6.  Spending the first twenty hours of the game at level 2 - via gameshark - so I can master enough abilities so I have access to every job and can level up with the best classes.  Again, it can be fixed with some hacking - make every class useful - but consider #5.

How is it that a game a major international corporation spent millions on is nearly unplayable without a cheat device?

Eternal

This is exactly why it's being modded. ^_^
