Spriting Question

Hello
i had a question
i've never sprited before but i want to learn how.
i read Jon's spriting tutorial
and it makes sense but my main question
is can we use sprites from other games?
say you have the sprite sheet.
can you simple use those sprites?
or do you HAVE to completely start from scratch and
try to make a sprite resembling the character you want?
if so may i ask the reason why you have to do it like that?
thank you for reading and hope i get an anwser..

regards

Vanya

You don't have to start from scratch, but you do have to "remake" sprites from other games to fit the parameters used by FFT.
Unfortunately, sprite parameters are not one of those things that are standardized for use by different games.

what is the exact parameter for sprites in fft?

Vanya

If you have downloaded FFTPatcher and have your digital copy of FFT, you can use ShishiSpriteEditor to extract a BMP of any sprite in the game and it will be in the correct format for editing.
