Use of ePSXe before 2.0 is highly discouraged. Mednafen, RetroArch, and Duckstation are recommended for playing/testing, pSX is recommended for debugging.

Can a modded PSX / PS1 ISO play on a CFW PSP?

I am aware that CFW PSPs can play PS1 games, once the game itself has been converted to some file type (eboot? pbp? or something like that?), though I'm not sure if there are any bugs in it. (i.e. I'm unsure if the emulation runs off the PSP, which may be botched like PS3's, or coded into the game itself like the PSN store PS1 games).

Now, I was wondering if the same could be done to an ISO or burned disc of a patched original FFT? I assume no, hence the WotL 1.3, but then again there's no other patches for PSP, but seeing as though it looks like patched games burned to disc can play on chipped PS1s (not sure about PS2 though - and PS3 won't be possible for a while, if ever), I don't see why it wouldn't work on a CFW PSP.

Has anyone tried this? Are there any glitches like the reported bugs with a burned 1.3 disc I've read about? I can't test it myself - I shut my door to CFW a couple nights ago, sadly. Dissidia demanded update to 5.5, which can't be cracked as of yet.

Your question bothers me...so much that I looked for an answer. My conclusion is No, a custom firmware PSP cannot do this. However, if you can convert the PS1 game to eboot or whatever, and then figure out a way to patch that file with the .fftpatch or whatever you want, it may work...what would be really great is if someone can figure out or invent a program similar to ppf-o-matic just for this. Also, if you were successful, who says that there wouldn't be major bugs/glitches? I think the answer as is of now is no, but if someone can prove me wrong, please by all means do so.

Ah, I see, clearly not as simple as I thought. I just assumed you could convert a modded PSX ISO to eboot like any other PSX game.

Try it, who knows? Maybe it works, but don't expect too much...

PSX 1.3 works. Mercenaries and COP crash for me.
