Ok so basically I open up a bmp of lets say Agrias to edit some colors. I understand on the palette window the one that starts at 128 is the portrait colors while there are 2 similar rows of 16 colors. Which one do i use?

Furthermore I was wondering how you can cut and paste certain sprite parts and attach it to another sprite (ie Agrias's head onto Celia's body)

after I'm done I understand that I upload it into shishi. But wuts the difference between .spr and .bmp? aren't they both similar??

when you edit colors is there a faster way than just using the pencil tool and replace each pixel one by one? Sad maybe a replace all certain color function?

Furthermore how do you switch between character palettes to edit, such as the female knight. Like when I upload one palette to edit, would I have to export the .bmp for the other palettes to edit?

I know its a lot.. but thank you for all your help!

The first row contains all the colors for the sprite, the second row is just an alternate palette.

I attached a picture showing a palette containing one for the sprite(Row 1) and one for the portrait (Row 9) If you don't plan on alternate palettes this is all you need to edit.

The best I can say for transferring heads and parts is copy/paste in paint with lots of manual tweaking.

.spr is the actual sprite file used by the game.   .bmp is the sprite decompressed and rearranged as an image.

I don't know about other programs, but you can replace all of a certain color with another in photoshop easy, the paintbucket does the trick.

I see.. but when you cut and paste is it really critical on how off you can mis place a sprite part? For example I cut Lede's head and put it onto the bmp of Agrias BUT can I put it anywhere of the relative area where just the head is located or would I have to calculate the exact coordinates of where to put it? This isn't attaching or anything, just putting the head from one sheet to another

I usually line up the eyes when I head swap, that usually assures it doesn't look strange in the animations.  Putting it in the exact spot isn't necessary, but it may look really funny once its animated.

The portraits are discolored in graphics gale because it's referencing the sprite's palette instead of the portrait.  Mav did a very detailed tutorial on fixing portraits in graphics gale.  You should check it out, it's in the tutorials section off the main site.  After the colors look right I'd cut the portrait out of the sprite and edit it in paint or something, then use graphics gale or paint to copy/paste it back in.
