For easier banning and stuff. However that would mean going through the trouble of making a rules chart. I seriously wouldn't do this alone though.

One of the problematic with rules is that you cannot write anything very specific for signature length, avatar size or lack of contribution.

Love what you're seeing? https://supportus.ffhacktics.com/ 💜 it's really appreciated

Anything is possible as long as it is within the hardware's limits. (ie. disc space, RAM, Video RAM, processor, etc.)

I don't think so. Common sense should be a priority. Giving them a set of rules seems to me like catering to stupidity.

We already have rule stickies about double posting and lolpatches but guess what, we get those all the time anyway. Wouldn't be worth it

If by written rules you mean tons of rules that no one will read, OFC not
Some general tip stickied such as those:
"Dont abuse smiles"
"Dont make patch that you cannot complete"
"Spam and flame are only allowed in spam"
May prove usefull...
Ps: I already said this somewhere else

The thing about "common sense" is that it's unique to every single person who thinks they have it.

Anywho, I think there's a distinction between the ignorant and the stupid. The ignorant will read the rules and abide by them. The stupid will either skip or ignore them and get banned anyway.

Yeah, never count on common sense because of it's subjective nature.
However, I agree with Dome on it being a simple list instead of some legalese looking mega-document.

Ah yes, point take. Perception makes simple things seem unimportant at times. I proposed a patch when I first joined, yet as it stands I only have half an event completed. I'll never complete the project on my own, yet I still try. One man might say I'm a fool. I agree.

I'm all for a general set of rules as long as the list doesn't become a pain. Then just stickey it in every section I guess.

EDIT: By pain I mean rules that get too silly.

Something like this?

-Use English. Make sure your post is readable and not just annoying smilies like "xD".
-Keep spam/nonsense inside the Spam section.
-If you want to make a thread advertising a patch, make sure you can complete it. In other words, make sure it is possible and that you will have enough time to finish it.
-No stupid patches that just makes Ramza a Holy Swordsman or something similar.
-No linking to malware or any other sites that can harm your computer.

Am I missing anything?

EDIT: What about sig sizes? I've seen some that in my opinion pretty big, but then again, I think mine should be trimmed down a bit anyway.

Exactly. If you have rules posted there's no ambiguity about this. It's much easier to just get rid of someone who is actling like a fuckhead.

Actually, normally I just ban fuckheads instantly without giving them a reason since they know it.

I kind of agree with the 'common sense' statement. The general rule here is 'don't be a dick, and if you must, at least be an intelligent dick and not an annoying dick.'

Why has nobody mentioned 'No ISO begging'?

No rules, just the almighty power of Zodiac.  If you are stupid enough to upset him, you deserve a ban.  Typically somebody will warn you before Zod steps in anyway.
