Brazil,
it's not a much better country
but the mentality is far more liberal
of course, after 15 years of dictatorship followed by 50 years of militarism we learnt something about our freedom...

Quote from: "Jumza"Global warming is a myth.

I'll give one quick scientific example that shows you're wrong:

1 million years ago, it is estimated that there were approximately 180 ppm (parts per million) of CO2 in the atmosphere. 250 years ago, it had risen to 280 ppm. In 2008, it had climbed to 385 ppm. It has been shown that water vapour is the dominant positive feedback element in our climate system, and amplifies any increases in temperature that occur based on a similar increase in CO2. There has been an increase in CO2, which has led to an increase in water vapour in the atmosphere, which in turn facilitates an increase in CO2. These increases in CO2 and water vapour increase the greenhouse effect of our atmosphere, which leads to less solar radiation reflecting back into space, and more solar radiation being absorbed into the surface of the earth, and being trapped between the upper atmosphere and the ground.

I'm not entirely sure that that rebuts Arch's post.

Well, it'd be impossible to "entirely rebut" it, since he's right that we're born without knowledge of religion and that we learn of it/get it shoved down our throat later in life.

My point was that no knowledge of religion =/= atheism. If you're ignorant of the issue, you don't have an opinion. If you're conscious of it, you do.
I'm fairly certain that I didn't suggest that you didn't entirely rebut Arch's post, in fact, I'm fairly certain I suggested I wasn't entirely sure that you rebutted it at all. I do agree with your point that no knowledge of religion =/= atheism.

Yeah the global warming deniers are misusing the real denialist position which is that that humans have something to do with it. Global warming happens and this is a stone cold fact. People who deny it are fucking idiots, end of story.

Who's a bigger moron - global warming denier, or a holocaust denier?

Why do I get the impression 'denier' isn't a word? It looks...odd.

People who deny (the facts of) evolution, global warming, that HIV causes AIDS, 9/11, that the holocaust happened, etc, are all fucking idiots IMO

I don't care what you believe, but when your beliefs start interfering with your ability to properly categorize and understand proven facts with your senses and rational thought process, I'll start flaming

I think those people are called truthers

You'd think a thread like this would have devolved to something along the lines of Dome coming out of the closet than debates of religion and politics (as those tend to be the driving force for the other debates).

Are you sure? Because vocal inflection would be pretty important in determining that, and there's no vocal inflection on the internets.

Now consider that I find it hard to pick up sarcasm under any circumstances.

I think the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer is absolutely terrible. Poorly written, bad character design, and just over the top with her sparkling vampires. It shouldn't have gotten the attention it did.

Thank you for diminishing everything scary about Vampires.
