I'm a big fan. Only place I come to with any regularity. I love the work being done and pretty much everyone who shows up. It's a pretty awesome place and I love to contribute and be a part of it.

I think a big part is Zodiac's no nonsense banning of people who disrupt the good vibes or who are just here to mess around and stir up trouble. Most sites are plagued with trolls and the like because they have such intricate rules on how people are banned or removed. Here if you are an idiot you are gone ASAP. Sometimes it seems harsh to me but all in all I think it's a major part of keeping the boards as functional and overall intelligible as they are.

The best forums would be ones ruled by a tyrant who is somewhat lenient.  (While tyrant is usually given negative connotations, it doesn't have to be.)  I think Zodiac accomplishes this well enough to keep the trouble out and the fun in.  Of course, the individual members of the community go a long way in making this place awesome too.

this would be hard in a big site like gamefaqs, where you have a bunch of guys who can't ban someone without them having broken some rule, otherwise there would be people abusing power and banning anyone who in the smallest way does something stupid, but when you have a small community like this then the administrator can judge wheather people are worth keeping around
