Another Final Fantasy Hacktics??

Discovering this site is undoubtedly one of the greatest, most exciting things that happened to me this year. Seeing as one of my favorite, but still flawed game got totally re-balanced and offered a greater challenge was awesome (1.3), as is seeing all these new great projects on the work (Mercenaries, Symbols of Rage, Remix, Call of Power).

Being the absolutely Hardcore FF Fan and Gamer that I am, I'd like to know if you've seen similar sites for other FFs (From 1 to 9, I guess). I remember seeing a long time ago some videos on youtube for some FFVII patch (for PC) with Sephiroth instead of Cloud and some minor stuff.. but nothing big like you guys do on this page. The work done here has quite a professional approach I'd say.

Anyways, do you think there might be / know there is similar webs for other FFs?

I'm personally looking for a good FF6 hack that's like 1.3; higher difficulty and some rebalancing.


I don't recall many RPG hacking communities. There's a pretty good editor for Earthbound. And I'm pretty sure there's stuff developed for editing FF 1-3, so you'll probably be able to find some good hacks of those.

Though it isn't an RPG, if you like platformers, check out the super mario world hacks out there. There's tons of pretty good ones.

And if you have a high-end PC, Elder Scrolls III Morrowind, Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion and Fallout 3 are pretty much limitless due to their modding communities. I've seen TONS of Oblivion mods on YouTube that make me wish I bought a great PC instead of a PS3.

You know what FF game i'd love to hack the crap out of? FFTA or FFTA2, if only because I feel the base mechanics mesh well with my dream hack of SaGa Tactics, 5 races (in FFTA) means room for M. Human, F. Human, M. Mutant/Mystic, F. Mutant/Mystic, and Robot, and the existing beastmaster and blue mage jobs sorta mimic Mystic abilities. the Saga series of games has always had you learn abilities via equipment, so that's no problem, as for laws, well just chuck 'em out, they're stupid anyhow.

Alternatively, FFTA could be made into Street Fighter Tactics, with the judge acting as a crazy ref who imposes arbitrary rules for each match.

It's way too easy. It's comprehensible why they made it like that though. I'd like a hardcore hack of it
I could do some challenge, but I don't like the idea of restricting myself too much. IMO you should be restricted by the game, not the other way around.

Oh, and I know of that FF7 patch. I saw a video on YouTube of Sephiroth and Aerith / Aeris (I don't care) dating at the Gold Saucer. Damn, that was funny...

This awesome Sephiroth FFT-style portrait was made by a super talented spriter called Smash, who frequents these boards. It has a small hair correction I made myself but nothing noticeable. Smash was indeed tired of seeing that Elmdore recolour so he decided to honor the great Sephiroth by making one himself, from scratch.
