Is it possible to change the name of your generics without hacking? I got very lucky at Gariland and not only got units with great Br/Fa but got the chance to crystal farm and whore JP, giving them stuff like Move +1 right off the bat.

No, not possible. You can only change monster names without hacking.

You can change it with Lion Editor on PSP and fftastic on PSX
