Sprites can really take a long time. I have been just learning here for the past year and it can be a grueling process, and I basically only mix and match existing pieces of sprites.

Same I have been experimenting with mixing and matching and making sprites from scratch.

It is a most tedious process, though it is fun.
Oh pitiful shadow lost in the darkness, bringing torment and pain to others. Oh damned soul wallowing in your sin, perhaps...it is time to die

Sprites are  a pain. I have a link sprite and he's like 90% done, I'm just too lazy to finish him! :)

Ah, yes.

This step however, is one of the best when spriting, the animated result. :O

The arms were kinda on the easy side, once I figured their proper alignment.

Now, to slaughter me with crits.

it looks badass dude, my only "crit" is that i don't think his hair is long enough to give movement. other than that, its just killer. theres  nothing to beat up on in my opinion. new sprites have been mostly borrowed parts unlike this one.

you're really really good! stick around so i can be dethroned as the spriter, thus giving me a vacation.

Right foot, I noticed it now that I came back. I'l fix it in a second.
Also noticed, on the right arm, once it reaches the middle frame, goes back too fast and looks like it disapears.
There's also some pixels on the chest armor that look wrong.

God, I critique myself lol.

Has this happened to any of you, that once you spend some time on a sprite or drawing, then go off to do something else and come back after a while, you see it somewhat different and flawed?
Happens to me alot. :P

Edit: Wait WTF.. St. Ajora?

That is just fucking ridiculously good smash, you are a true spriter. My only suggestion would be to not alter the shading on the armor quite so much, it creates a cool effect but it looks like his torso is twisting too much right now. Like Sentinal Blade said there is something a little odd about the feet/legs, but it must be minor since I can't figure out what it is. Basically it is amazing and looks better than many of the actual game sprites. Oh and Zozma is right about the hair, but you are probably saving that for later, though there are some odd pixels on his head band right now it appears.

I was just about to say how much I like the idea of a shadow moving across the chestplate when the right arm comes up. It doesn't really look like the torso is twisting to me.

The problem with the left leg might be that he is dragging his toe. Try adding more of a bend at the knee as the leg comes forward

Freaking nice job Smash. That is an amazing sprite! I especially like the gold trim on the armor. How far done would you say you are with Sain %-wise?

much better smash, the hair only gets one pixel cahnged when your walking..feels odd..not enough motion if your trying to go for that...

Yes the hair seem to flash lighter colors other than actually move.

Great progress on Sain. The back view is definitely looking good. I'm really impressed by what you are doing with the arms. Your Viera white mage looks great as well. I'm a FFT purest at heart so I can't appreciate them too much, but if you took of the ears of the portrait it would be a great portrait for Raine from Tales of Symphonia and has lots of potential in general.
