Is there still no way to edit Balthier's portrait or unit formation sprite?

I'm trying to add new characters to WOTL, and there really aren't a lot of spaces that work. I was able to replace Balthier's battle sprite, but I've seen on the forums here that his UNIT.BIN and WLDFACE.BIN are hidden. Obviously, they don't show up in the drop-down menus on Shishi. Are they hidden so well that's it's not possible to edit them? Even if they're hidden in some sheet with multiple sprites, it should still be fairly easy to edit just that part of that sheet, right?
