PSX & PSP

Afternoon, iv known about this forum for years but never really bothered joining since I loved playing the original FFT without modding so much ahh anyway.

Iv been having a little problem it's nothing all that serious it's just that the Psx version of FFT character slot limit is so got dam low that I have to kick every person iv recruited/unlocked every job class on them the legit way to make way for the special characters I want and I pretty much want all of them. Iv searched around before posting and read that the PSP version has more character slots *thank god* but, will I be able to use the debug mode and other gameshark code for it after iv beaten it? PRetty sure it's a no but I still would like to ask.

My plan was to have characters from the soldier office with names iv created along with all the story/side quest characters in the game but on the Psx version it's just not possible. As i'm posing this i'm choosing who to kick out for Cloud /sigh bye Rad I liked you out of all the characters.

I like the special characters cause in the formation they have their own saying when you click their names and you know they have their special skills too but I also don't wanna get rid of my nontalking members due to I worked hard unlocking all their job skills without cheating.

In the future when i'm done beating this game again I wanna do some vids on showing off hilarious debug glitches this game has and unfinished maps hope I can do this on the Psp version.

I don't see a question anywhere in your post, but I'll just go and mention to download the PSP slowdown fix if you plan on playing FFT for the PSP.
Some day my people will be free.

...

I don't know the answer, but I thought I'd point out that there was a question there if you read the whole thing.

There is a hack that exists that extends the amount of party slots on the PSX version, if you don't mind playing on an emulator!

It is!? O_O iv been googling the hell out of one for days I never found any mod for it at all but I did find a truck load of map change and battle debug codes i'm trying out ha.

What's the topic called i'll go look for it right now!

Also sorry for the long first post I did kind of skip around my question there my bad.

Jumza, when mentioning the Party Roster Hack, you need to mention that it uses the Guest slots. I'm not sure exactly what would happen if you used these and then had a guest in your party afterwards. I'd imagine either the unit you had there would be erased, or some other wonkiness.

It would be necessary to only use it on a mod that removed guests from formation. Or unless it was for personal use and the person took care not to go over this limit.

Also, it only increases it by 4. Not the 8 (IIRC) that WotL does.

It's good enough for me I got everything I need now besides Rad who I kicked out but I found some debug code for some random battle to get him back so it's no biggie.

Also it looks like I have to start wayyy over now cause I did...something a few hours ago an pretty much broke my game going in formation..forgot to double save /sigh *thank you max party debug codes I hate you now*

Jumza

Oh, I should have thought about it first I guess Elric. I've never used the hack myself (or looked at it much) so I just assumed that it compensated for that on it's own, which now that I am thinking about it, doesn't make a lot of sense!

But yeah, sorry Mushi! Is Rad even that important? Just pretend he didn't join your group so he could go train or something.

Or simply recruit someone and name them Rad :P Rad isn't used for any in game triggers. Nor does he have any special/optional dialogue in events, so you won't even notice the difference. (Even in WotL, you only need Alicia and Lavian for that special Agrias scene, Rad is literally just a generic with an actual ID)

Rad is slightly unique in the PSX version: if you hit select in the party roster to get hints on the UI objects and use it on his name, he'll say something unique. Actual generics just say "......" since those lines were taken out in the localization for space.

No, not really. They were taken out because, laziness. They can easily be put back in in Tactext, space shouldn't be any issue at all.
