something tells me it took a lot longer to gnaw through the walls than it would've to just go through the maze.

Actually, how do you define 'powerlevelling'? Is it just levelling up as quick as possible or maximising the benefit from each level?

Powerleveling IMO would be being many levels over the "normal" level for a certain part of the game. For example, leveling up to 30 at the beginning of the game (random battles) and then start to play the story, which now will be too easy.

...Eh...I think that's overlevelling...

you can't get a maximum benefit from levels in games where the stat incrases per level up are not randomized

so for those games people call it power leveling to just over level

in FFTA you can power level the real way though, and reset until you get desired stat gains for each and every level up

level 99 = overleveling
level up/down from 20 to 1 to 20 to 1 to 20 to 1 to 20 = powerleveling

Quotesomething tells me it took a lot longer to gnaw through the walls than it would've to just go through the maze.

not when you have TITANIUM TEETH.

POWERLEVELLING: When you have the time and don't want to dick around.

It takes hella long and is boring and tedious to boot. I'd much rather go through the maze than try gnawing through the walls. =/

I'd much rather gnaws through the walls.

I agree that powerlevelling is different than overlevelling but I do them both and call them by the same name when doing it.

I always considered powerleveling to be where you will do and use whatever you can to level quickly. It usually requires a lot of resources and, at many times, risky endeavors (I.g. Going to the harder enemies to get more exp.)

Funny you should say that, my first playthrough of FF8 had me go straight to the island of hell at level 50. Didn't leave until the whole party was level 100.

Love what you're seeing? https://supportus.ffhacktics.com/ 💜 it's really appreciated

Anything is possible as long as it is within the hardware's limits. (ie. disc space, RAM, Video RAM, processor, etc.)

There's no need to powerlevel in FF8
FF8 is easier at low levels...

I have yet to really find a challenge in any FF I've played, to be honest. Self-control is what makes it a challenge.

FF12 has some pretty nasty fights, especially a good portion of the Hunting ones.

Or at the very least, a decent gambit set, crafted especially for the fight.

The gambits in FF12 make this a bit too easy to me.
Move around, auto-attack kill move auto-attack kill auto-heal ect...
Having the best gambit set aslo mean you just move around and look at the carnage.
I don't mean ff12 is bad, this is just too easy if you use the perfect gambit set. I can kill most bosses by just moving around em...

Well, yeah, the FFs are really hard in PLACES but otherwise very easy.

The ones I've played...

1 - nothing really stands out yet
7 - same as above
10 - first and second seymour battles, and final boss (though they can circumvented easily, Rikku Wakka and Lulu with Overdrive ready can pretty much anhiliate anything)
10-2 - really damn easy. You could over-level without trying, the final boss was a cakewalk and I NEVER did extra grinds, you just levelled up mad fast.
12 - Rescuing Basch, a couple of later hunts
Tactics - Wiegraf / Velius
Crisis Core - A couple of particularly tough bosses, mainly Genesis at Modeoheim and Angeal Penance, but only on 'hard' (if you can even call it that) mode.

I recommend you guys try Dragon Quest 8: Journey of the Cursed King. It provided quite a challenge throughout.
