Possible way to create new 'unique job' characters?

I know that it isn't possible to create 'new' uniques per se - all that's possible is editing current uniques, or making enemy uniques vulnerable to entice (WotL term, sorry, the mediator skill that makes an enemy join you) or have them join you at the end of battle (ENTDs, unless I'm mistaken).

However, I just had a thought. Let's say you were to edit, just for argument's sake, Calculator, and edit all ENTDs so they do not appear in random battles. Now, make its unlock requirement level 8 in itself. This blocks it off from generics.

Now you could have a unit with a unique name (unique sprite most likely would not work though - meaning they'd still swap sprites depending on job) and that job by default appear in a battle and join you at the end.

I assume that they would probably require their job they come in at level 8, as starting at level 1 would mean they didn't have it, or perhaps not, I'm just assuming it would create a crash or destroy the universe.

Admittedly, yes, this is losing one spot to generics, and this special job would not replace squire, but would it not be a fair trade to create a few new 'uniques'?

Anyone think that this could work?

Also, do you think there's any way aside from editing the base game's uniques to have a unit stay in their own special sprite?

Since when is it not possible to create new special units?
There are plenty of jobs that can be used to create new specials.

Problem:  If you use this character in battle with anyone, it's allies will gain JP in it's job class, and will eventually access it's unique job.

I think everyone on the same team gains 1/6 or 1/7 of the jp from each individuals actions.

I do think it would be sweet if, let's say Agrias could have Squire as her base class and holy knight could replace some other generic class (if that's what you're saying).

Really? You mean ones that are in the game's code and the patcher, just not used ingame?

Crap, I completely forgot about shared JP gain - but are you sure they even get the JP if they haven't unlocked the job?

No, that's not what I mean - I mean, sort of to create units with their own unique jobs aside from the ones supplied in the game. But what's stopping you from turning Holy Knight into Squire and replacing some generic job with Holy Knight?

Pretty much any job that has skillset 00 is not used in game or only used in a cut scene where it doesn't matter what job the have because it is never displayed.

A common practice is to move Simon's sprite to another slot and then use his for a new special unit.

I'm pretty sure the JP doesn't come into play if the job hasn't been unlocked. Test it to be sure.

The Agrias thing could be done easily enough, but then all units would have access to the Holy Knight job.
What would be interesting would be to have specials also have squire available instead of replacing it.
The problem is that squire is a base job like all the special jobs and thus shares the same RAM addresses for tracking their learned skills and levels. A similar solution as the one I presented for the Dancer/Bard situation could be used here as well.
