Quote from: "jimmyjw88"Yea. I used Llednar's FFTA mug. That's why it looks funny =.=

UPDATE*
Recolor. Starting from face.
Is it ok?
I'll get my comments up in a while.

You're missing some of the basic details of fft mugs; I'll make a guide about this soon.

The above statement is true.

And jimmyjw, you missed most of the shading that goes under the hair, neck area, ears.

Here's a sample

I did a few changes in the shading, small eye fix and smile; everything else was fine.
Go ahead and take what you like from it.

By the way, should I limit the colors to 16 or wait till everything is done and then compress it to 16 palettes?

Have them colors limited already.

And actually, to your mug I only added shadows, fixed eyes and right eyebrow, and brought back the smile. These are just small details, but the most important, as they generally define how the mug will look.

Unless you're drawing something by hand, always impose the limits from the start.

I see.
Well, the small details that you changed makes a huge difference between what you have and what I have.
Lol

UPDATE*
Llednar mug
Thanks a lot Smash, for letting me use what you've changed ^^

Colored the hat but exceeded colors limits (22)
By the way, which red is better? Or both out?

That's pretty much what I said when he fixed up my Ike sprite a bit.  (I'm going to finish that eventually, but I'm approaching finals and classes are getting hectic.)

I vote second.  First is glaring.  Second matches the sprite sheet's red and looks like it would fit FFT style better.  Already got that many colors though?  Ouch.

Yea, unfortunately.
And there's still colors need for hair.
So probably will go to around 26 or 28 colors which is....zzzz

The bottom red is much better, but it still needs a little work. Reds are really hard to find for portraits that work well. I also think you should make the hat a little bit bigger as a whole.

What the hell? You exceeded already?

O_o

Use this. ()

It should have everything you'll ever need;
-8 skin colors, every sprite has them.
-3 orange colors, for the hair. Used with brightest skin color and some dark skin browns, makes like 6 for  you to use.
-Has your mug#2 reds, compacted into 3 shades.
-White for eyes and when used with bg color, suffices for the white neckband.

Bottom red for color. Pixels themselves need work.

The hat should be wider, like the reference. And something's wrong with it's shading..

Crit time

The darkest red wasn't dark enough.. Make it a tad darker, and then use one of the browns or blacks to add them as extra shades for the hat, and I'd also suggest observing the male summoner's hat/hornband for you to grasp the shading style correctly, or maybe the female time mage's hat. On the neckband thing, the left side should look as good as the right one.

Try and soften those outlines a bit. Also, don't try and do so much with the hair
