Final Fantasy Hacktics

Hello. I've searched around a little bit and havent found much on this. Im trying to update the formation sprite for Ramza in-game with a custom sprite, and it appears as though I only get a black box when doing it via Shishi. Is there something Im missing? Ive read through a couple of guides and I cant seem to find anything about this specifically (unless i missed it somewhere)

It's the first color on the color palette that should be made transparent. Your formation sprite image must not have the first color as the background color.
