Graphical glitches when simply changing the job of existing generics in the ENTD

Hey, this is probably a very stupid question but I went through and was just changing some existing generics in the storyline battles. Nothing major, swapping a knight to a dragoon, or a geomancer and some such.
In most of them, it seems fine, however in some it will cause certain units to become a blob of pixels. It is rarely the unit I edited, often some other random unit I may not have even touched, and it can even be the units I place from my formation.
I am not sure what is causing it. I just used the FFTPatcher to just edit their job class while leaving them as generic male or generic female. Anyone able to point me towards the issue so I can try and avoid it in the future?

An event can only have 9 spritesheets loaded at a time, for example:
3 Male Knights
1 Female Knight
2 Male Squires
2 Female Chemists

>> Means a total of 4 sprites. It's pretty easy to break the limit if you're not careful, but if they are your recruits, don't worry they'll be in your party all fine after the event is over.

Anything is possible as long as it is within the hardware's limits. (ie. disc space, RAM, Video RAM, processor, etc.)

Very interesting. I did not know that. I guess there was a reason for so many FFT events being loaded up with single classes instead of spreading the love around!
Does this include my own classes? As in, if I bring in 4 generics of different classes in addition to Ramza, that uses up 4 sprite sheets? So no single battle to avoid errors, should use more than 4? Toa ccount for Ramza and a possible 4 generics of different classes?

Ramza, like all other special characters, has a sprite of his own; so no, 5. Just remember that male/female generic jobs count for 1 each, because each look different. Many make the mistake thinking adding 1 female knight and 1 male knight only count for one, when it requires 2.
Sometimes, the game will only allow you to use 4 characters in your squad, meaning the enemy can use 5 different sprites instead of 4.

I get ya. That seems like a pretty big limitation. Is that overcome with any more advanced ASM hacks or additional hacking that the community has done? Or is it just a limitation that cannot be overcome due to the nature of the game itself?

The playstation only has so much Video RAM available, it's impossible to increase the amount.
