Hi there everyone!
I'm Peter and been a huge fan of tactics for quite some time.
So I finally chose to join this site!

I wanted to ask for your advices regarding placing a custom sprite into the iso file,to replace an existing character.
I can't get it to work.
When I try to import the bmp file in shishi editor,it always shows an error message.
I am sure I have been doing something wrong since this is the first time I've done such a thing. I've drawn my sprite in Paint Tool Sai.

This is Lucetta Gentile,my original character.
Your help is much appreciated!

I used to get an error message when i inserted them after saving in photoshop, the solution was opening up the .bmp in another program ie. graphics gale and then saving. However it might not be this (could be something with your program and how it saves .bmp thus affecting palette). hopefully this helps.

side note: dont use photobucket because it turns the .bmp into jpeg, just simply click additional options and attach it to your post (or upload to imageshack - makes them .png)

Hmmm the problem is,I don't know much about color palettes, really. I'm quite the novice actually. All I can do is just draw them.
I also tried fixing the portrait in graphicsgale, but I couldn't get it to work either. Yeah, you may be right about the program. But would that mean I'll have to redo everything?
Thanks though!
Ungh,I wish I could make it work.

Ah alright,sorry for that!
(I fixed it)

Jon

There ain't no gettin' offa this train we on!

PeterPrime

Ah,thank you,Jon!

But my main problem is that I always get an error message when I try to import my character to Shishi.
The message says something like: "System.BadImageFormatException: Format of the executable (.exe) or library (.dll) is invalid."
And a lot of errors saying "foundBadPixels".
If anyone could make it work,or at least tell me what I was doing wrong,I would highly appreciate that!

(And I also couldn't make that "bad quality" portrait with the right color palette show up in graphicsgale)

Excuse me for asking so many questions.

from the look of it, it seems like youve originally saved this as jpeg, then changing it to bmp and thus distorting all the work youve done. if you have a clean version we may be able to help.

Hmmm,yes,you're right twinees.
When I saved it in Sai it was already 366kb. (.bmp)
And I just tried it with an existing sprite sheet and got the same error message.

What programs do you use for drawing the sprites themselves?

Jon

You could in theory cut the portrait out, open in GraphicsGale and reduce the colors down to 16, reduce the colors on the portrait to 16, reinsert the portrait, save and it should then work. Just follow the steps in my tutorial ;)

Ah I think I finally got it now.
I am using photoshop to draw my sprite and seems like Shishi can recognize the .bmp file.

And erm,is there a way to place my custom sprite in War of the Lions as well?
I couldn't find the UNIT.BIN file anywhere on that iso image.

(or does it only work on the psx version?)
