Should I use?
PSX or PSP version to patch with?
Are there more options in the PSX version to mess with?
Like text editing and junk?

Its up to you really. But the PSP version is a remake of the PSX, and one of their goals was to tie up a lot of the loose ends of the old one and fix the bugs. But ironically its these extra spaces and bugs that we like to mess with. I hear you can do a little more playing with the psx version because it wasn't made as well basically... lol

if you, for instance, want to work on a crazy everything broken patch then you just pick PSP and save its default settings and patch is done!

I have done plenty of patches on my PSP version.

I just thought that PSX version hacking was more advanced.

Psx has more to work with, in the PSP version they filled up unused spaces to create their new items, spells, characters etc...

as far as items i donno what they did to add more unless they erased a few, theres only like 2 available slots for the psx last time i checked, but i always remove those 4 crappy handbag weapons to make some more axes and stuff.

So with the PSX version I need to learn to use that CDTool program. Is that simple to use? Also can my FFT ISO be in .BIN format?

Yes, it can be in .bin, and the PS1 version is alot easier to use because you don't have to fool around with Memory card transfers and other gay stuff.

I just recently switched over to PSX version, not that hard to learn to use CDTools. And, a plus is you can easily record gameplay.
I refuse to play Final Fantasy Tactics again until I am able to do my FF6 patch! And, FFT 1.3 doesn't technically count as FFT: so there!

PSP doesn't  really lag that much if you have CFW, I mean I was using like Divine Ultima and the other cool spells, with no lag

you know what tho... in some instances i like the fact that the spell animations are slower. some of them look better than i realized because in the psx version they go by so much faster.

PSP will give you a bit more space to play around in in terms of abilitys and items you can edit, since most have longer names then the original psx version = more room for your custom names, you also have the better dialog, additional quest and movies. the only real disadvantage as far as i can tell is packing and unpacking the bin file and not knowing the original names of the files inside without some kind of guide. I think more people use the psx version because more people have it not nessecerily because there is more you can do with it.

PSX is better if you do a lot of edits.

ive never used anything but cdprog on psx version, plus it lets you import larger sprite files.

Once I was able to edit the PSP version thats the only one I use, but now with my new comp for some reason the text editor won't patch the PSP version so I may go back to PSX now. :(
