Quote from: RetroTypes on October 20, 2024, 03:40:54 pmZozma started a Mon sprite of Altima, but I dont know if it ever got finished. Here's what he had so far:

If you want to search more thoroughly, you can use this page:
https://ffhacktics.com/customsprites.php
I wasn't aware of this page with so many sprites created, I'll take a look at it, thank you very much! I'm new to this, I've even seen some things about creating your own sprite, but at the moment it's too advanced for me, I'll try it soon

Help! / Altima's Sprite
October 20, 2024, 03:03:09 am
Are there any Altima sprites in human form? I would like to use this character in my game, but I feel that her normal form (as a boss in vanilla) is very broken, and if I lower her stats, it will end up being a little strange visually speaking... I saw it somewhere On the forum, someone who made the Altima sprite in human form (the size of common characters) but unfinished, just a sketch perhaps. I looked at the sprites tab and didn't find anything about it, can anyone tell me if it exists?

Spriting / Re: New Sprites
October 13, 2024, 07:29:03 pm
I loved Rafa's look. Did you use any ready-made sprites to create the final look? I've been looking for some sprite similar to this to use in my little mod (it will be personal, I won't disclose it). Could you use it?

Help! / Re: Portuguese translate

Quote from: RetroTypes on October 13, 2024, 12:58:57 pmDont forget the words that are baked into images too, like the status names in frame.bin and all that.

Overall, a full translation is not a small undertaking by any means. The few that have been done did indeed take years to achieve, and even then I dont think any of them are technically "complete" because there's still a few images we dont know how to edit last I checked. But yeah, no such thing as a "small mod" for a full translation of the game, unfortunately.
I understand. It seems like I should drastically lower my expectations since I have no experience with such tools. Anyway, I'll take a look and see what I can find.

Quote from: Nyzer on October 13, 2024, 12:02:06 pmIt requires using a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to replace Japanese kanji characters with accented ones (I believe it's the "FFT Font Character Creator" in the Xifi-Sheets, then a lot of editing using FFTacText for the descriptions of things like abilities, towns, jobs, as well as unit quotes, rumors, proposition messages, and so on. Then you need to do a hell of a lot of event editing using either EntryEdit or (more likely) EasyVentSuperPerfect. All of these are available on the Tools page.

And if your language tends to require more text than the English language does, you have to account for all the times it goes beyond the width limit of a message window or the times it increases the size of the text so much that it goes past the size limits of a certain section of the disc (for TacText editing) or the size limits of an already nearly full event.

Doing a translation of the game can take a few years to do, so don't go in expecting it to be quick and painless.

Perfect! Just having a direction to follow is enough to know where to start. I'll take a look at the tools and how they work. Little by little I will try until one day I learn (I hope). Thank you very much!

Help! / [Answered] Portuguese translate
October 12, 2024, 09:23:27 am
I would like to create a small mod just for myself, nothing too big, but I would like to create a story that is mine and for a better experience, it would be better if the dialogues were in my language (PTBR). I'm new to this and I don't know how to translate a game, I looked around the forum and tried something I saw, but without success. Could anyone give me guidance on which guide to follow to be able to do the translation or could you even teach me please? I don't want anything that exceptional, just being able to use the special characters we have in the country. For example: à, é, o, ç...

Help! / Re: Job name changing letters
December 08, 2022, 02:46:26 pm
Exactly. I was only re-importing it when I made changes to map music, I didn't know I needed to import it every time I changed other texts. Thank you for the advice

Quote from: Jumza on December 08, 2022, 11:26:05 amI've never heard of a bug like this before! What I would recommend is patching your story modifications on to a fresh image to see if the problem persists (then you know that stuff is the culprit).

Though, I find this very unlikely. I assume you've also made changes with FFTacText and/or the Attack.Out editor, either of these is more likely in my mind. In those cases I'd recommend doing the same as I said above but for those, then you can isolate the problem and work from there
I believe that could be it. Currently the only things I changed in FFTactext were the job names and their skillsets, and of course the names of some of the main characters. Nothing more. But in Attack.Out, I tried to remove that conversation scene between Algus, Ramza and Delita, so that it ended the battle and I went directly back to the map, but as I have no experience with that, it clearly went wrong. So what I did was open Attack.Out again and return the event as it was before, and the event itself worked, the dialogs appeared as they should and then I returned to the map. Only later when I went to do that battle again to see if everything was right, that I noticed the change in the name of the Knight Job. I went to "new game" and noticed that all classes involving the word "Knight" had been left in Japanese (Including Agrias and Gaffgarion's Job). I went to FFTactext and renamed Knight's work and saved it, and when I returned to the game the name in Japanese had come out, but it kept appearing as "Kthght". I'll do as you advised and change only the dialogs to a clean vanilla, and I'll see if the error occurs again. Other than that, the only thing that makes me open Attack.Out is to change the music that plays in each moment. However, thanks for the advice!

Quote from: Xifanie on June 29, 2014, 03:29:41 pmNone that currently exists. (and probably never)
The only thing to remember is that you can't restructure with shishi before patching a mod that alters the sprites.
Your comment raised a question in my mind. I've been editing my vanilla (I expanded the ISO right when I started, i.e. before changing any sprites), and I figured that would be OK, but today I noticed that, when I went to switch jobs during move formation to make a test in the Samurai class, when I changed the job and the unit appeared, it had a green background (?), it had not happened before, but when I left the formation and came back again, it was normal (The unit was cut normally in Gale , had already been tested). This is the first time this little bug has occurred. So reading your comment made me wonder... do I need to change all the sprites in Shishi, and then expand the ISO, or can I expand it directly before importing the sprites into my vanilla?

Help! / Job name changing letters
December 07, 2022, 07:38:12 pm
Hello everyone, I have a small problem and I needed to enlist the help of more experienced people this time, because today was a very exhausting day for me and I'm very tired, my head is about to "explode" with so much confusion, so yeah difficult to solve this alone...
I'm still getting the hang of using the game creation/modification tools. And since I'm still not able to create a dedicated mod, I'm changing mine in a way that it follows the same path as the original vanilla. However, as I changed all the characters to create a "new story", I am needing to change the lines of the dialogues during the game.
I'm currently changing the dialogs for the starting events (involving Algus), and when I finished and saved the dialogs for the events (025 Introducing Algus) and (027 Returning to Igros), I noticed that something made the name of one of the jobs, stay in Chinese, I tried to return to normal with FFTactext, but it continued with another error...
Are there any limitations I should avoid when changing original campaign dialogues? Because I'm not putting too much text or using special characters, just a few words... I would like your help, if possible.
Since I'm at the beginning of the game, the only mistake I could notice was in the name of the job, so I'll probably have problems with other words as the game progresses. Solving this before dedicating myself more would be very good.

Oh sure, sorry. Maybe it slipped my mind while I was reviewing the tools, I'll check

Quote from: CONMAN on November 15, 2022, 04:41:29 pmThere are a few little tutorials out there, but even if with all the knowledge- you will have to jump in the pool a little.

There is a tutorial here:  https://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=6618.0

I made a simply head swap / frankein-sprite tutorial with graphics gale : https://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=11236.msg213573#msg213573

While it might not be what you imagined, I did make a Ruvelia
I am happy to have the honor of using this sprite in a game that, despite not being very big, I will spend a lot of time playing. I am aware that you were involved in the creation of Ruvelia's sprite as I saw some posts on the forum, mainly about Souls of Destiny (which is already in my game library, and although I haven't played it yet, I saw your videos on youtube and I really liked the gameplay, I'm looking forward to playing it!). When I have some time from my work, I'll research the issue of creating sprites, and I'll try to create some work. And as for creating a dedicated mod like yours... well, it will take me a while to understand all those codes, but one day I will! Thanks again so much for letting me use your work!

Is there any tutorial on how to create these drawings/characters/sprites on the forum? I would like to learn to participate in future projects like this. (I still haven't found it, I landed here by parachute while looking for something else) and by the way, do any of you have Ruvelia's sprite? I can't find it anywhere. I would like to use it in a version of my FFT (It won't be available because it won't be a Dedicated MOD, just with some changes for me to play by myself)

Excellent job! It helped me to get new characters - and by the way, to put Altima (First form) as an ally, using some random Unit to not get so weird in the team formation (crazy).
It may seem strange to make Altima an ally, but I really wanted a character with that teleport style, not to mention that her sprite is very well made and worth being used for good (even if it's your own benefit). Obviously I will adjust it so that it doesn't completely break the game, like changing Teleport 2 to Teleport 1, and base status.
I'm not creating a complete MOD because I still haven't learned to use the event editing tools and others, so I'm modifying small things just for my own use, until I learn to create a mod worthy of being shown here. But it will take a long time because I don't understand about it. Anyway, congratulations on the brilliant idea. And thank you!

Help! / Re: Help with Emulator
October 31, 2022, 08:45:28 pm
Quote from: Elric on October 30, 2022, 02:54:39 pmThere are several guides on the site for this. Look in the pinned index threads here and in the tutorials section as well.

Though I will add that ePSXe is just about the worst emulator you can possibly use for playing FFT mods. Or PS1 games in general.
I'll look for the tutorials. As for the other emulators, which one/which ones do you recommend? I've always used ePSXe, so I don't know it very well.

Quote from: Elric on October 30, 2022, 03:00:01 pm1) Its not a bug, its a vram limitation so, no, you can only have 9 unique sprites on screen (alt palettes are fine)

2) You wont find a lot of basic tutorials like you are requesting as most of those things are covered in larger tutorials like eventing. Outside of that there is discord to ask questions. But all the info you are looking for is definitely on the site, since thats how I and many others learned it. Not having experience seems to be something that people think shouls be a stopping point until someone helps, but its not. If you really want this, your gonna need to do some legwork as well.

OBS) Again, event editing tutorial.

Definitely recommend looking through the tutorial section and joining discord because this topic is way too broad, since it seems like you want a tutorial on how to mod the game, in full, and thats just not a thing.
Right! I'll take a closer look and try to join discord. Thank you very much!

Help! / [SOLVED] Help with Emulator
October 30, 2022, 12:42:54 am
My world map is completely dark, I only see the objective points to walk between them. Earlier today everything was ok. I copied a friend's video configuration and the map still doesn't appear for me, and his map appears normally. I've been playing on version 2.0.2 for years but this time I can't solve it.
I downloaded versions 1.7, 2.05 and even 1.8 and in all of them the world map is not normal. I already deleted the ePSXe records from windows and reconfigured the emulators, and it had no effect... I don't know what else to do to get it back to normal, please help me.

Hi, I'm new here on the forum and it's the first time I try to mess with something like this! (Sorry for my English, I won't have the opportunity to study this language until next year!). I have two initial questions and I would like your support to help me find the right help, thank you in advance!

1) Sprites in Battle: I noticed that if we enter a battle with 5 non-original sprites, their image is distorted (A bug). Is it possible for me to make this limitation go away and I can use a little more altered sprites in the same battle, or is this an unsolved limitation due to the game being old? I don't want to literally change every character in battle, but I would like to have more options in combat.

2)I don't understand anything about programs or utility features to modify this game (not my area), so I would like, if possible, to guide me to links where there are tutorials for beginners. It doesn't have to be anything too advanced as I won't be releasing the game or even making any major changes at the moment. I would just like to change a few things for personal use. I want to step away from our beloved classic version and make the game a little different, but nothing in the Journey of Five style (Which I played from the beginning and thought it was amazing! Congratulations to the creators.) I would like some more basic tutorials, things like: change something in a battle, a tutorial on how to use FFTorgASM and even ATTACK.OUT... I took a quick look through the forum and found some useful tips and saved them to study later, but I didn't find anything about these programs, I believe there is something teaching, so if you can leave a link so I can see how to use all of this, I would be grateful !

OBS: I just remembered! If you can tell me where I can find a tutorial to change lines during battles too, it will be of great help. I would like to change some lines in the story if possible.

I'm happy to meet you, I hope I can learn a lot here, and who knows, maybe in the future I can teach you something too!
