Help! / Re: Running into an unknown problem
January 15, 2013, 10:18:44 pm
This doesn't sound like a problem with your patch. There is no limit to the amount that you can change as long as you're doing it correctly. Even so, patching an ISO shouldn't mess with your controls like that. If I had to guess, I'd say it's your emulator. Have yo updated anything on your computer since you installed the emulator? That's most likely the cause of something like this. Like Kadwin said though, try with the simple first. Try patching a clean ISO. If nothing works, why not give a system restore a go?

Help! / Re: Questions from a beginner.

1. Use the search bar.
2. Use the search bar.
3. Use the search bar.
4. Use the search bar.

Honestly, it's mainly the same, but it does differ if you're trying to mod PSP or PSX. So I'll do the best I can to answer your questions.

1. Yes you can. Unfortunately, if you want to give the classes new sprites as well, you're going to have to sacrifice another one (or a game character). If you just want to add a class to your late game file, this isn't much of a problem because you can just write over the sprite files of an NPC that doesn't appear. Such as Simon.

2. The character portraits are found in WLDFACE.BIN. You need to down FFTTEVEGRP, open WLDFACE.BIN and export the portrait. From there, you can use a program like Photoshop or Graphics Gale to edit them.

3. There is a program for that. I forget the name of it. Just search the forum and you'll find it.

4. You have to download UMDgen and use it to extract the fftpack file. There is also a guide on that if you search.

Really all of this is quite easy to find if you search the forum.

Sorry, wrong link.

QuoteProject Description: FFT Complete is meant to take all the best parts of each version of the game and combine them into the original PSX version. Including the script from the PSP port, the missing bits from the Japanese version, and getting rid of all those nasty bugs and cheap cheats along the way. I don't think this should turn into FFT v1.4 or something. The core gameplay should basically all stay exactly the same. Then if people want to really change game mechanics, story, or difficulty they can just base their build off of this. Inserting the new script should be relatively painless and is all established knowledge, it just takes time. With Melonhead's new amazing FFT Text editor all the text everywhere else in the game is also very easy to edit. Getting the story books to work will be much tougher, but should be possible given that the japanese PSX version has them in there working. Bugs/glitch fixing already already been done for many of the games issues, but will require experienced hackers on board. If some dedicated people got on board with this project, I honestly believe it could be finished quite rapidly.

FFT: Complete combines both games, I believe. So here.

Wow. Quite impressive. I wonder if the mobs serve any actual useful functions such as surf, dig or flash.

Help! / Re: WotL Custom Sprites
January 11, 2013, 03:11:44 am
Ah, thank you very much. I figured it out but didn't want to create a guide if there was already one. Although, I may make a guide detailing the whole process just for the sake of people in the future.

Oh hey. I'm Pretzilstix. I joined last night, but was too busy messing around that I must have overlooked this introduction section. I don't like saying words. Sorry . Just accept me as one of your own? Or at least don't bruise my face too badly.

Help! / WotL Custom Sprites
January 10, 2013, 01:05:03 am
As far as I have read, no one has made a way to insert custom sprites into the Formation screen for WotL. Is that still valid? It's easy enough to add them during a battle, but anywhere else seems nearly impossible at this point. If not, does anyone happen to know why it's so difficult? I understand that it has something to do with a size difference, but that's about it.

Help! / Shishi Nondescript Areas
January 09, 2013, 09:30:30 pm
Hey, I've been stalking this site for a day or so now and it's been super helpful in answering most of my questions. I've been messing around in FFTPatcher and the Sprite Editor for a quite a while now. I have managed to create a totally custom character (PSP Version)! I'm quite excited. I do have a few questions though.

When you open up Shishi and look at the list of character sprites, there are duplicates. Why? I'm wondering if there is a list or something that will tell me which belongs to each character/job. Also, could I use one of the 'short' sprites to create a character as well?

Sorry if these questions have been answered. I've been looking, but couldn't find them. Thanks for any help :D.
