forgive my ignorance, as I know nothing about sprites, but...

...if they're both T1 sprites, why is it Iron Man has an armless body in the same place Loki has a headless, armless body?  shouldn't Iron Man be headless as well?

ok, planning on giving custom jobs and classes to:

Rad
Lavian
Alicia
Boco (replace with Human)
Byblos (replace with Human)

All different classes.

I know I can replace Malak (dead), Balmafuma, Simon, and Gaffgarion, but what else can I work with?

I'm blindly assuming that I can replace Byblos (since he's demon rather than monster...likely wrong on this, but meh), but in general, are there enough unused/replacable sprites to accomplish this?

if you're talking hacking anyways, why not just change the C-EVA to 100 and call it a day?

here we go - I don't know if I'm saved right beside Goug anymore - I think I started doing other things, and got discouraged by my lack of Reis and Beowulf...but I'm at the beginning of CH4 or so.

Anytime I try to load the Steel Ball scene, I get a completely black screen - no loading message, nothing...

...I'm pretty sure this is the right file...it was under PSP/Savedata/SCUS94221, and it had the right custom icon, so it looks like Rebirth...but I have no idea how PSP save files work, so it might not be the save...

I know Type1 and Type2 aren't interchangable, but what about MON?

can I take a human sprite and set it as a monster?

for things like, making something look humanoid (like a cloaked figure), and making it a golem instead of a person.

I may have only been here a very short time, but in that small amount of time I had found you immensely helpful, friendly, and am a little sad to see you go.

ok, I see a LOT about Wine on here...I'm assuming...Linux?

when I had Linux, I ran a program that let me run a full copy of XP as a program, as opposed to using Wine as a compatibility layer.  I also set it up so that my XP saw a designated folder in Linux as a Shared Folder so I could move files back and forth...it helped with essentially all my Wine compatibility issues...

...if there's enough interest, I may be able to hunt up the old links again...

Also: what do all the tickboxes on the animation tabs mean?  I assume it's stuff like "swing sword" and "throw" and such, but there' s no answer key...

...although Concentrate and 5 also have animations, so that only leaves me more confused...

forgive my necrobumping, but I thought it relevant.

I remember reading in another tutorial that there are other sprites that can be used in the same way as Simon and Balafuma were mentioned in this tutorial.

As I can't find said tutorial, is there a list of which ones will work?  I think one of them was a Gafgarion, and one was a Malak...

...just for those of us who would like to replace Boco with a human, and maybe make Lavian and Alicia different... (at the expense of a certain chemist)

ok, likely a simple question...

the above picture has Truth Sword, Maduin Shield, and other items I've never seen in-game, or in-walkthrough.

How do I make FFTPatcher show names I choose?

I don't care if I even have to rechange 'em in FFTacText afterwards, I wanna be able to see "Deluge" while I'm modding...

interesting...

I was thinking Cloaks/Sheilds because, well, Procape, and also something along the lines of "Sheilds focus on Evade, Cloaks focus on M.Evade" sort of thing.  Of course, now that I'm thinking on it, I'd have to sprite up a Cloak Evade sprite, wouldn't I? hmm...

PSX FFT Hacking / Jump Request

so much for trying to keep this simple...

Request ASM for Jump to get extra damage with Sticks as well as Lances.  Kudos if it can be mixed with the "putting Jump bonuses into the battle formula" code I saw a while back.

Also Also, if possible, a merging of "Lavawalk", "WaterWalk" and "Ignore Weather" into one ability...such an ability might actually get used, as opposed to all 3 seperately.

ok, I know that you can't change, say, an accessory into a weapon, because it'd be hard-coded to be a Knightsword that goes on your ring finger at that point...

...what about Balls and Shurikens, which don't go anywhere?  can I safely mod one/both of them into a weapon/armour/whatever?

can I mod Sheilds into weapons, since they're hard-coded for "hands"?

also also: can I change a Sheild into a Cloak so I can give things like mages something to have in their off-hand (a-la FF1's Procape)?

on the downloadable tool there, the one that lets you modify weapon stuff, the 1st page is in-battle sprites for equipment.  Presumably, the palettes are the same given a weapon (so, Sword 03 should be the same colour for the menu and battle).

Hope this is helpful, we noobs gotta stick together, right? :P

ok, did a quick search, and didn't find anything - just ASM hacking.

can I change the weapon formulas from DMG_(weapon) safely?

I want to do things like setting Staves to go off MA, and switching Daggers to the Throw formula and such, but I'm worrying about buggering things up.  Will I?

also, is there a way to remove the randomness from Axes and Flails?  I hate that, and it's about the only reason I don't use them...

also also - I know I can't replace a Sheild with a Mantle (coding for position, etc.) but replacing a weapon with a weapon is fine, right?  I can remove Harps (fsck harps) with books, and such?  If so, does this extent to Shurikens/Balls, since they're weapons too?

...this is all without ASM hacking, BTW - I don't wanna jump in headfirst, get in over my head, and lose interest.

...I wish FFT Patcher didn't have so many blank spaces...it'd make this all SO much easier.  even if it came with a readme and a GOTO for extensive details, it'd be easier...

ok, just to confirm "if you know what you're doing"...

it's not as simple as changing "Math Skills" from "Arithmeticks" to "<Default>", like what I've read can be done with Archer's "Charge"?

I meant PSX version - I've seen a decent amount of blank, dud classes kicking around, including 3 actually labelled "Rad, Lavian and Alicia", are these usable?
