well, those 100 bytes did come from somewhere else, mostly in an effort to restore original net size after doing some trimming.  But, good news all the same.

So it would be a bad idea to throw 100 bytes of text into a single description, then? >_>

Regarding byte size:

Is there a limit to the amount of text that can be present within a certain description, provided the net byte size for the section (WLDHELP, for example) is identical to its previous incarnation?

True, but the level of meticulousness/planning required is massive.  Take 354 FS Bags for example -- it's impossible to get those if you fill out to the perfect roster first.  At least in the PSX version.  Stupid 16 unit limit.

Have you the perfect, most accomplished, file? Are you a devouted FFT player?
Well then try your luck at the "Master File". This is NOT an official award
given in the game like "Master Treasure Hunter" or "Master Explorer". This is
just merely the requirements I(me and myself only) have to judge how perfect
your file is. Without further ado...

- All unique characters kept. That means all your 16 character slots will be
filled to the brim with: Ramza, Rad, Alicia, Lavian, Boco, Agrias, Mustadio,
Rafa, Malak, Orlandu, Meliadoul, Beowulf, Worker 8, Reis, Cloud, and the
"Byblos". A character is "unique" if you can go to it's name in the formation
screen and they say something.

- All characters at level 99 with 99 EXP, with all jobs open and Mastered
with JP at 9999. This includes getting Ultima for Ramza and Zodiac for ALL
human characters(all of em!).

- All characters at 97 Brave and 94 faith(even Worker

- Max amount of Injured... 9999? I only have 764 It prolly goes into the
thousands.

- Every "Move-Find Item", in every stage in the game(except at the Gates of
Bethla Garrison, you can only choose one path), found. Also they must all be
the 'good' Move-Find Item(low brave). Think of 'Move-Find Items' as treasure
chests in other RPGs. Do you leave treasure chests unopened in other RPGs
when getting a master file? Even when you can't get back to the Chest once
you pass it up? No, you don't.

- Every Proposition done perfectly, no failures.

- Max amount of Gil, 99,999,999. The War Funds have an 8 digit account so I
ASSUME this is the highest but it could be higher....

- Max Amount of time elapsed, 1000+ hours. This is the limit, I have my
file(which I've been playing since I got FFT, 2 years ago, when it first came
out in the US) at 1000+ hours and it keeps repeating, never reaching 1001
hours, always recounting the minutes(0 to 59) and seconds.

afaik you can only alter shop appearance for things already flagged to be sold in shops in the first place.  Which sucks, I'd enjoy a buyable Ultimus bow, among other things.  

What you can do it lose a redundant item and simply modify it to be like you want.  Blind Dagger no one wants?  Well, now it's a knight sword with 24 WP and it adds haste!  It costs 20000 gil and its available at checkpoint 14!  There's a lot of switcheroo that you can do(o).

Of course, the text is going to be all wonky for the moment >_>.  It'll still be labeled blind dagger.

good to know.  Heck, I've even "patched" from the text editor with NOTHING changed and it still shifted the job wheel around.

I recently downloaded the text editor.  Just doing some pre-lim poking around right now, seeing what description goes where.  

I edited the job class description of squire from "basic unit blahblahblah" to "ABCDE unit blahblahblah" from the ATCHELP directory.  No other changes were made.  Upon patching I also noted the similar glitch of abilities being offset by one.  Meanwhile, the job descriptions on the character wheel were offset by 4, with the last 4 (mime, samurai, ninja, something else) all having the basic squire description.  

I know this is kind of an old topic, but have we made any headway into finding a way to fix this?

But I left by circumstance, I didn't want to leave .  The without a word thing was bad form though.

did you test it on like... a bomb or squid person?  Anything that takes additional/less damage from lightning/ice?  Was it during a thunderstorm weather event?

At the rate Arch keeps pumping out newer fights while nerfing old strats, I won't catchup!  Like, ever.
