I need one or two people willing to test my monsters and battles up untill chapter 2.
one person focused on monster developement: someone that can make some good suggestions on balancing each of the available monsters.
and the other focused on battle difficulty.
I need these mechanics fine tuned so that i can focus on implimenting the actual events. Just be aware that your not really getting a sneak peak at the story as so much as you are seeing a few gutted events.

So what you're trying to do is help me make the battles as hard as possible. but i need you to test it as someone without any gameshark or any other kinds of shortcuts.

I want enemies to be so difficult (if possible) that you are almost willing to keep going if one of your specials crystalize. Including randoms.
It is nowhere near that point right now and as far as what the enemies have available? well it still needs to become progressively harder as the game moves forward so they arent going to just be able to start with things like "counter" "blade grasp" "hamedo" etc so primarily all i have to work with is their numbers, jobs, and levels. Equips are going to be generated based on their levels.

It did always bug me that elite soldiers could be thoroughly upset by a heretic and some cadets.

So Kage and DP im just waiting on my ISP to come back up on Sunday and im also making some additions to those battles up till chapter 2 end.
Certain areas as of yet are a bit neglected but with your help testing things should evolve pretty well. And as i've mentioned before, just dont expect many things to make sense as you will see special guest/ enemy characters without any explaination as to why they are there. Events take a long time to create so most of that isn't worked out yet.
Monsters are a bit screwy right now since i used an asm hack that disables the fixed color palettes. so if you see monsters with the wrong palette let me know so i can set it right in ENTD

I can fix that kind of stuff pretty easily. maily it's a copy/paste in excel and set the palette to their original value based on the job.
Seem a bit complicated but it's extremely easy for someone like me.
cool, its nice to have control of a monster's color palette with ENTD but if the palette is set to 0 its nice for them to take the one that matches their job/tier

Um... that would require modifying the asm hack and would create the restriction that you would be unable to use for instance a dark behemoth with the normal behemoth's sprite.
My plan is "manually" set all the corresponding palettes with excel and then if you create a new battle or something else you'll have to manually set them too.
If you still want just send me your fftpatch.
Else you can just use the special units/generics version of the hack if you're not planning to give any monster a special palette.
ill have to think about it, i havent applied that long part of the asm to the battle.bin because of that crash i menioned earlier. hopefully tho ill have the internet back up at home tonight when i get off work

generic humans can only be hired at the soldier office
monsters currently cannot be recruited except for Boco
for special units you get Boco, Mustadio, and Lavian before chapter 2 ends which is the end of the patchwork so far

you, however, get more special units join up by the end of the game than you have space for so either way you have to boot some characters. Its a shame i couldnt get it expanded to 20 to fit everyone but thats just the way it is.
I think it's good, it forces you too beat game at least twice.
I think you'll enjoy the selection, alltho they are all human except boco so far
I was working on expanding the amount of units available before my last computer died. I did some comparison and copy pastes between PSX and PSP and had a semi feasible setup though the background was severely messed up and it had a tendency to crash.
If I can remember what I did I'll redo it and post a PPF for you guys to play around with.

Ok here are two bugs:
Difficulty of Gariland was quite high, I had to lure one by one enemies to win, Orbonne was easy though, maybe boost power of enemies, or give them some good support skills, like Defense UP or Attack UP?

your having a text issue? how is your emulator set up? or is he actually using Dark Sword there? that would be odd
also thx for pointing out the palette issue i missed one. I recently applied an asm hack that allows special units to have multi palette use just like generics do so thats all that is.
thats Odd with the text for the bio spells too, i patched an extended vanilla, and everything seems to be working fine..... yours did have any other patches applied right?

also it appears your original version should be this size 541,315,152.
according to melonhead. but thats probably what creates the errors is a size difference
