Ok, This is the version .1 of the dark Ramza sprite. Should I shade it a bit differently?

The freaking ponytail and cow lick always bothered me so I removed it lol.

Looks interesting.
At any rate I like the concept.

Quoteresized it in paint

resize it using this method:
Ctrl+W.

then follow the sequence, 50%, 100%, 200%, 400%, set for both..
ex, horizontal: 200%, vertical 200%.

Thanks, Mikemitchi.

Yeah, the cowlick and the ponytail always bothered me for some reason. I plan on changing his hair to brown or black. How does the black shirt look? Should I use different shades?

Is there anything you DON'T know?

I've been using MSPaint for spriting until I got GraphicsGale VERY recently. I daresay I've mastered that piece of crap of an image editor.

Helchilde: It looks good. I like the style choice. Very classy.

Consider looking into that GraphicsGale I mentioned. If only just to test it out. It's got everything a pixel artist could ever want... without any of the over-complexity of some other options...

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I'm going to have to try GraphicsGale out. Anything to make this and portraits easier. I don't do well with a lot of colors  .

I hear that...

It might actually make things more complicated at first, but it has palette control, which is important for making things that are meant to work with the actual game...

Your two darkest shades may be too dark, but otherwise this looks interesting.

Ok, I updated the sprite and portrait. I lessened the Darkest shades and removed the red from the portrait.

Good start.
You are on the right basic track Helchilde.
Editing default sprites, which is simple and good. :)

I wanted to start on something easy before I get to the monster sprites.

I will start working on a Garr sprite using one of the demons after I finish Ramza.

That would be a huge leap. Monsters are complex.
But if you plan toedit minor details, then go!

I've been sprite editing for 2 years now, so I'm alright at it. I'm just trying to get used to the fft style.

I'm already pretty much done. All I really have to do is edit the hair on the rest of the sheet. I'm mostly just doing this for fun and to actually have contributed to the website.

I probably will not finish it till the weekend, because I have a english paper due friday. I also would like some ideas for other changes I could make to the character. I am trying to base the character off of an idea that I had a while ago before I discovered this site.

I thought that it would be pretty cool if Alma was captured instead of Teta, and she of course died at Fort Zeikden(sp?). There by replacing Ramza with Delita as the main character.

Turn his hair black and his gloves/boots red and call him Goth Ramza. ^_^

I really should. It would fit with the personality outline that I made awhile back.

I'll work on it and post it in about an hour or so.

I was joking, but I wouldn't mind seeing it done anyway.
Keep a version of it as is too. ^_^
