Don't worry guys, I don't think Square is setting up for some kind of crusade against the hackers. But for now, just be wary of yourselves and stay alert.

If you're really worried, maybe you should make the forums invisible to non-registered members...

If you guys of FFH stay under the radar, I don't think there's too much to worry about. But I can tell you this much, members at the Compendium (myself included) and at many rom-hacking locales are pretty upset with this, but we're not going to martyr out some of our members just to test SE's patience. It's a damn shame...Thankfully the guys who worked on the game are coming up with a retort, so let's see what happens.

And if this is a hoax, there's a colossal asshole out there who just shat on the entire rom-hacking community.

Hey, not bad man, not bad. A little macabre, but I like 'em, a lot. I wanted to make a knight who wore a skull as a helmet a while back, but I got quite lazy--but your sprites definitely make me want to start up again.

Your project looks pretty good man, good luck with it. I have a couple suggestions (that you're free to reject)...

I'm not sure if this is worth mentioning or if this is even the right topic, but in another topic you mentioned that you needed names for Bolmna and Blansch. Wasn't Bolmna actually called Baron of Bolmna, or something along those lines? So if you're still looking for names for them, I'd suggest something like Idris Min Bolmna (I believe "min" means "from" in various languages, or Arabic at least--so it would be Idris from Bolmna, in case that's a region or a family name). And since Blansch is French his name could be something that conveys that...if you wanna leave a good laugh on people that'll get the reference, name him Blansch Devereaux.

Again, feel free to disregard these suggestions; I'm just tossing in my two cents. Best of luck to ya.

Good job Zozma, those portraits look great.

As far as spriting suggestions go, I agree that the arms need to be replaced (female archer's will look good) and the hair should be changed to brown on the sprite, if possible.

QuoteCan I ask one question....how come nobody used Ctrl+PrtScn and paste it?...I was able to obtain the japanese's Tifa portrait from the video that way. All we have to do is fix the pallette!
Well, I did a print screen, then I sharpened it a bit. If anyone wants to resize it, clean the errors, and fix the palette, I've attached the sharpened version.

Honestly though, you've done so well with your portrait that fixing this one feels like a disservice.

I got my copy from emuparadise.org. Just search for Final Fantasy Tactics on there, download, extract, and you'll be ready to go.

Beautiful sprites! These were tremendously well done; kudos to you guys. And while we're on the subject of mugs/portraits, maybe you should model part of the helmet (so not the cowl) more off Gafgarion's and less off of the lancer helms. I think it'd be a little more distinctive and would really help these characters come together.

If you need a mockup, I'll post a very crude example of what I mean.

Aye, mine was a couple pixels too tall, and was a work in progress...a work I've made no progress on, but whatever. If anyone wants to fix it up, they can, as I probably won't go back to it for the next couple days.

EDIT: I got bored, so I tried making a couple alternatives. The first one is obviously the original, the second one was my previous attempt, the third and fourth are supposed to be with his hood down. Any suggestions?

That portrait looks quite awesome--I especially like how you fixed the neck and collar, that was one huge problem with mine. Did you connect the beard/goatee to his sideburns? That's pretty suave looking, but personally I decided to leave 'em separate to distinguish him from some of the other bearded fellas, like Dycedarg and whoever else had a full beard.

And Algus's events (and eventually the Igros castle events) from vanilla began to play after the Lavian fight, I assume you've been notified of that too.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, but yeah, I should have taken more of his original sprite into consideration. His hair looks like it's being pulled back in the original portrait, but the sprites at the top of this page look only slightly pulled or slicked back.

This is what happens when I try to have it partially slicked back:

No, it's no big deal--like I said, it was actually an issue with my power supply, but perhaps something within those scenes required a little more power? I have no idea. Anyway, it's a phenomenal project; I'll be lurking around keeping an eye out for some more goodies you guys have to release.

Hey, that looks pretty cool. I went ahead and attempted a portrait...but I should forewarn you that: A) I've never done this before B) I ripped the hair/ear off the 60 yr. old man sprite C) I didn't completely fix the palette D) I can't shade or draw worth shit.

And for some reason he kinda looks like Doogie Howser.

I just downloaded the demo and played through a bit. The story and dialog are exquisite, the jobs are gonna take some getting used to, but the seem quite innovative. My only concern is that the emulator--or something--crashes randomly. For instance, after the second battle (first time you get to use Gafgarion and Rad) the game froze for quite a while after the battle ended: the emulator stopped running and my computer froze, after about a minute or two the emulator kicked back up (Vista is a bitch and won't let me close things as they start to crash) and I continued the game. Then I proceeded to the Lavian fight, a similar problem occurred: as I was about to attack with Lavian my entire computer crashed, I got a blue screen, and the computer restarted. Thankfully my computer's back up and running fine, but I decided to let you know about this problem right now before I cause some serious damage.

These seem pretty significant, and I'm not sure what the cause is. My computer is brand new and this is the first time I've played a patched game on ePSXe. This entire project looks quite promising, so I hope to hear what's up soon. Best of luck to all you.

EDIT: Well, after my computer crashed twice while I was trying to edit this post, I'm thinking it was actually an issue related to my power supply, triggered by the emulator. Anyhow, I'll let you know if anything else happens that might require your attention. Great work on this project; you've made a fan of me.
