News:

Use of ePSXe before 2.0 is highly discouraged. Mednafen, RetroArch, and Duckstation are recommended for playing/testing, pSX is recommended for debugging.

You seem to have a great grasp on this ASM stuff. :3 I was wondering if you could figure out how to create another balancing item.

Splash Damage - Like in Dofus and many other games like FFT (and possibly RTS games).

The center-most tile is dealt 100% of the damage or heal. Every tile from there outward loses 10% of the maximum damage this helps make magic classes slightly less powerful (I prefer to use almost full-magic teams in vanilla because they make it so easy).

Do you think it's possible to do this in FFT? If that is possible, would you be able to implement a way to flag this for use in only certain spells?

Your fix to the diagonal view made her hair perfect. :3 I love how natural Monica and Vicks look palette-wise and in terms of overall design.

I'm curious about your use of Lust. I never read the Manga, but in the anime her hand power were all hardening, projectiles and extension.

Her head appears to be kind of flat in that one. Maybe that will be less noticeable if the two highlight pixels are taken from the back of her head.

Is there a way to get an animated preview for these yet? It would help me a bit in deciding what skills to give certain customs along with how to name them. I suppose it would be too much to ask for someone to make recording of all the animations. x_x It's just as tedious to test them one by one when you probably won't end up using most that you test. It would be great to have them archived on the main site.

The links no longer hold the image archives either... that's a lot to look through with FFT view. Not to mention it only previews the graphics, not hwo the game uses the animation.

Many of my current forums have 3-4 mods modding multiple sections. Usually the vote is left up to two in how to handle bigger situations. We're not big enough for that, plus we're actually doing work unlike the other forums. So, HM, I don't think we're big enough to have multiple mods per section yet, outside of projects, unless people are willing to take time away from their patches and lives. Zozma and Cheetah have the sprite forum but it's a lot easier to maintain an image forum over an entire concept forum.

Also I'm getting this vibe...
Daddy's Favorite: Oh yea, brother? Just wait until daddy gets home.

Your armor and the overall character... it seems so flawless. Your boots look especially great. One thing, though. It looks like your hair doesn't animate in the walking animation. Your character has a bit of overhang on his hairband, so that might sway around when he moves. It's not a necessary addition, though, since his hair is short.

Pointing out what is needed for a community isn't arguing. This refuting of you saying that I was arguing is arguing. And considering that we're talking about the nomination of a moderator, I've stayed pretty well on topic.

Would it be possible to implement the dolls as weapons yet? I think I remember hearing that we can't add new items yet, only alter existing ones... so that makes me think we can't. It would be great for one of the classes I've been toying around with in my mind, though. The dolls aren't displayed on this page but they are shown in other sprite rips, like this one:

I'm not against having a moderator at all. However, my understanding of this Asmo person's personality tells me he may not be the best for it. I haven't researched his character myself but if members of the community can't agree that he should have this responsibility then there might very well be reason behind this.

What's needed is a well-developed, slightly larger community voting for one to moderate. The nomination is the hard part, since a large chunk of members should share similar views. This is a small community, so choosing a moderator is hard work because you all know each other possibly too deep. With experience on other forums, moderators tend to have a small group of close friends and a large group of acquaintances or people that at least know of them before they are actually chosen as mods.

Acting as a coach and showing the community how to act is the responsibility of both the moderators and admin/Zodiac. Yes, I'm new here. However, as a new member, I feel my words should be heeded. My views are likely shared by other incoming members that spend a few days browsing the topics. If I didn't have an interest in staying here and seeing what develops in terms of hacking, I'd already have been turned away (or used my extremely limited knowledge of two Japanese classes to struggle at understanding the Japanese hacking community XD).

Policing ourselves isn't ideal, however we should hold ourselves up to certain expectations and standards, just as we do offline.

I also denounce your 'nomination' of me. :p I hate playing leader.

Quote from: "Voldemort"
Quote from: "HatterMadigan"I agree with SydneySoul. If Asmo or you, Voldemort, would just help with the constructive criticism and tell them what's wrong with their patch

don't you think a moderator would be more efficient with this?

That is the job of a true community. Right now, I see a collection of cliques and very little essence of community.

It's also quite apparent that you , even though you deployed sarcasm, didn't get that constructive criticism and blunt honesty have fundamental differences that were already pointed out clearly enough for most to see.

There's a reason blunt honesty has such a name. It does hurt people. Constructive criticism =/= blunt honesty. Blunt honesty will get you fired, get you beat up, stifle relationships, cause people to either lose or gain respect for you (double edged sword). That's just the short list.

Constructive Criticism:

"I don't like how this and this turned out. You should look into this, this, and that or try this - otherwise so&so feels lacking. Consider the effect of blah blah on the blah blah."

Blunt Honesty:

"Yea, the such & such are all wrong. Fix them or you won't end up with anything  of merit."

If you don't notice the difference there...

I don't see the problem at all.

1) You can limit the ways to get items. Only able to buy certain items at certain points in the game. Making the FS bag poachable and only in Chapter 4 is a method along these lines.

2) Items already end up out-classing others... So there's no problem here at all.

Madlemgen outdoes all other books in pure damage.
Mace of Zeus outdoes the bonus of Wizard Staff.
Bracer outdoes Power Wrist.
Germinas make Battle and Spike boots useless.

There are likely many more examples. Don't try to think of bags in the rank of perfumes - they aren't meant to be equal to each other like those accessories.

I bothered to watch it. It's a silly advert by Gatorade. They do a mock-up Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail.

PSX FFT Hacking / Just an idea.
February 13, 2009, 11:40:54 am
I'm not sure what hacks we are currently capable of but here's an idea to throw out there. I'm basing this off of the ASM I saw for 'Innate Equip Change for all' and 'Innate Item for all',

Get rid of the bag as a weapon. Keep the shop symbols for it but change it to an accessory.
Equipping each has special effects:

C Bag- Chemist's bag: Innate 'Use Item'
P Bag - Poacher's Bag: Innate 'Secret Hunt' PA+1
H Bag - Helper's bag: Innate 'Use Item' Innate 'Throw Item'
FS Bag - Full-stock Bag: Innate 'Use Item' Innate 'Throw Item' Innate 'Equip Change' Move+1

I just see it as nobody seriously uses these as weapons. So if the pro hackers can change them into accessories and eliminate them as a possible weapon, we can have some pretty interesting accessories.

You can break 999 HP, correct? As seen with the Zodiac monsters having 56,000 HP in someone's patch. So I'd assume crazy HP for a tonberry might be in the low thousands (2500 maybe?) so ??? to display HP.

It's not the head that shrank, really. I used an existing head. It's the hair that shrank. :o It started off with the male white mage head, which has a huuuge bowl of hair. But I'll go into making it slightly larger, since I can probably define it better larger.
