40 + SP is much better, 35 maybe?  I still think it is too strong as a unisex ability, but since Charm doesn't last forever like in vanilla it's not gamebreaking.  More ways to heal Charm without having to inflict damage might help too - not sure how the AI would react, but worth a try.

A Charm spell is a lot less problematic because of CT/Faith, that's a good idea.

Well, that took too long.  Next time I will split into divisions and run best-of-one with single elimination playoffs.

Good:
lolcharms (ban Steal Heart with MA > 7 until next patch)
Secret Fist (regularly wrecked whole teams)
Cover Fire (Cover Fire + Concentrate > 90% of AoE skills, great power and range, partially bypasses Defense UP)
Bussard (seriously, dude was a badass - may have to examine axe/handbag scaling)
Sandbagging (Squidgy's very vanilla team did quite well thanks to hellacious sandbagging, overall res units were well correlated with success)

Bad:
Undead Ring (one-shot Dia, horrifying. plus Raise, potions, Murasame, Fire 2, Asura... just unusable)
Jutsus (there's still room to play with these though)
Silf (terrible success rate, Don't Move is hardly a premier status)


Ugly:
40 Brave units with Regen and/or Move-HP Up and/or Blood Sword and/or Damage Split and/or Speed Save and/or Unyielding
Likewise, whole teams unable to reliably outpace regen/potion usage
Execute doesn't function properly (seems to Add: Critical, rather than functioning on Critical units), Greased Bolt is useless since Chicken expires next turn
Axes sometimes seem to hit twice, although the second hit never connects so it's purely visual I guess
Damage Split (this is a lot less clever when it's on every single unit)

Part of the problem is it's easier to get high MA across a range of classes in Arena - you don't have to completely sacrifice HP to get a Samurai with 17 MA.

K+MA*2 for unisex Steal Heart is absurdly broken, I'm still not sure how I dropped three matches running around with Allure.  I hate charm.  I think you should drop it to K+MA and keep K around 35, charming both genders is a huge buff.  Maybe even just make it K. I hate charm.

K+MA*2 for Talk Skill?  Probably pretty strong, but not necessarily broken.  A lot of these skills need a boost. Maybe drop the K on Mimic Daravon, which is the only talk skill that can turn a match around like Steal Heart.

K+MA*2 for faith-based magic was a much needed change.  It's basically K+MA for 70 faith targets, K+0.6*MA for 40 faith targets.  If your MA is cranked to the roof with Magic Attack UP, I don't see anything wrong with a success rate of 75% on the Death spell.  It's not costless to invest in MA gear.

Magic can also be evaded and reacted to, while Talk Skill and Steal Heart are unevadable and unreactable.  That is a serious strength.

If you have to choose one I would go back to K+MA.

Halfway through; doing a best-of-three for each matchup.  I will post more analysis at the end.  A lot of very boring stalemates - if I could ban one ability it would be Move-HP Up.

A very mundane team with solid fundamentals.  You can do well without exploiting broken garbage!
Orange Company    
Hilariously broken 70% Charm offensive, but next to no sandbag power.
Grey Knights        
Bussard is easily tournament MVP and his backup is pretty meaty too.
Otabo      
Secret Fist, Steal Heart, and Nameless Dance is enough status.  Without 20% of the population wearing an Angel Ring, Death Sentence is very strong.
Pride        
Has fought some long stalemates where Polka Polka found use.  Offed Bussard in a classic brawl with Zombie/Raise 2.
Body Parts              
Quite effective Cover Fire with the glass cannon Monks, but pretty much kaput if they go down.
dinosaur          
Tends to split up, get divided and conquered.  Pretty reasonable damage even against 40 Faith, though.
Poisoned Wine
Zero offense. Basically nip away with status and hope the other team dies of poison.
The Dark Mark II  
Love the concept, the teleporting Draw Out gives me Elmdor flashbacks, but Fire weakness is a horrible vulnerability.

Here is a memory card with the fresh teams, if your computer comes as close to a nervous breakdown while processing FFMaster's spreadsheet as mine does.  I made a few minor tweaks to fix JP cap issues (and PX being too lazy to enter Brave/Faith, you slacker).

Maybe I will run a round robin or something, since I can run matches fine but not record well.

Is Salty Rage still legal?  I don't think there's any way to balance it as an accessory - has there been thought given to making it a Body armor?

Is Steal Heart unisex?  It seems to still be opposite sex only.
Unrelatedly, I think handbags are using the axe formula, I am getting beastly damage.

To allow for asymmetry, you would have to scale levels and equipment too.  And that's probably not enough.  Too much that doesn't scale with stats much and/or inflicts status (e.g. Talk Skill).

The 3000 JP cap is very loose already.  You can grab any reaction, any support, a reasonable primary, and a revival secondary.  Is there a unit over the JP cap that couldn't be limited to 3000 JP and be 90% as effective?

Since everyone seems to agree R/S/M is the issue, why not make action abilities zero cost?  Then you can have a unit or team JP cap for R/S/M, crank up the cost on Speed Save and Damage Split instead of outright banning them, and see how it goes.

I only just now bothered with getting this running, hopefully this helps.

Okay, here is the easiest I can make it.  Not coincidentally, it's what I do, and it's basically identical to the current tourney - the only difference I know of is traps being enabled which has happened to me once.  You will need:

a clean .iso of Final Fantasy Tactics (keep a copy just in case)
(recommended) The unit template .clf - http://www.ffhacktics.com/forum/download/file.php?id=5310


1) Apply the patch (13030_AI_TOURNEY_BETA_1.00.ppf) to the .iso.
2) Load the memcard Lasting_Dawn VS Skip_Sandwich.gme and load the file.
3) It should work okay.  Don't mess around in game, just press confirm and select a map.

You don't need to mess with the Excel spreadsheet.  Just edit the save file with FFTastic.  Load the .clf and use the "Swap" function to add, say, a blank knight to your team, then adjust his abilities.

Summons cannot be added via FFTastic without issues, so add these from the formation screen immediately after loading your save.  Ditto with abilities like Wish.
