You have to open a pre-existing .spr file and import the .bmp file into Shishi and re-save as a .spr.
I refuse to play Final Fantasy Tactics again until I am able to do my FF6 patch! And, FFT 1.3 doesn't technically count as FFT: so there!

and the current colors used on the bmp (even if they have more palettes in them) must only be the first 16 including the background

in gimp you can see all the colors past the first 16.

if you want to be safe and not risk any color loss you could delete all the colors past that by saving them as 0/0/0 black, including deleting ALL the portrait palettes.  Then when you go back to editing you dont have to worry about exceeding the color limit. and you can always add in the portrait palette later.

Ok, I fixed palletes. Placed the battle sprite's colors on the first line.

If it's only 16 colors, what about those of the portrait? Does it have to be a different file or something?
I saved it on 255 BMP, the colors changed slightly like those shown on the sprites when I open an img file on shishi.

The portrait's palette starts at around number #128.

if you're using the new shishi that shows all the sprites in the file? the display icons will look a bit off but in shishi it should look the way u colored it

I have the one that's on FFPatcher-ver0.352 btw.

Ok, so I get it's all colors black except 1-16 and 128-144; I shouldn't have any more problems then in a while.

Zozma, after reading yours and cidIII's posts...i realize theres alot of rules to setting up a sprite...its not the old slap anything you want on it and the game will read it that there was in the 2001-2006 games...now its even worse than when it was in the 90s with FFT and suikoden :O

I could possibly make a guide for this, if you guys think it is necessary.

Unless, someone else is already working on one...

- Basic intro to using Shishi's
- Changing your custom sprite from .bmp to .spr
- Color Limitations (Battle and Portrait)
- Programs for editing sprites
- Making custom portraits/characters show up in Unit Screen(Unit.bin)
- Dealing with palette frustrations
- Different sprite types
- Patching your sprite into the game
- File size restrictions
- Extending your .iso???

Any more issues you guys can think of?

I know, I pretty much was just going to put that the sprites are separate and require you to change them in Unit.bin, and that there was a different program for that, and put a link to your video.

Lol, no problem.

Doing text would be impossible with that program, your video is perfect though.
