You can't use non-generic skillset IDs as generic skillsets without issues.

FFTA/FFTA2 Hacking / Re: Speed up the game
March 15, 2025, 11:27:25 am
I really doubt it. Most people emulate games because that's easier than acquiring and modding old hardware. And fast forward buttons are long-running staples of emulation.

Nope. There are limitations on Formation sprites and roster slots that make it infeasible to add joinable units willy-nilly like that.

A few bugs were found, so now there's 1.2.26.

Got any special settings like the widescreen hack enabled?

In the Jobs tab of the FFTPatcher.

Version 1.2.25 is now out! With any luck, this will be the last of the "beta" patches at long last.

New Project Ideas / Re: Quality of Life Pack v1.14b

Cancel Movement had a rare bug! A Chocobo with a status effect like Don't Move could be mounted and un-mounted through Cancel Movement to clear those status effects. I've added some more code to preserve the mount's stats during the turn it was mounted.

Found a bug with vanilla katana shattering that caused it to occasionally shatter when it shouldn't. Decided to overhaul the entire shattering code to fix the bug and add more functionality alongside the Fur Shop if broken mechanic in a new file. You can now enable the option to have Maintenance prevent katanas from shattering, as well as whatever support ability is in the ability slot 0x01E4.

FFT TLW ReMixed / Re: ReMixed Bug Reports
March 04, 2025, 10:24:52 am
Quote from: Dexaltat on January 30, 2025, 12:26:37 pmThis bug with Job option in Brave story is probably already known, but I'll still report it just in case. The bug appears from the moment when Dispatch missions are available until the first proposition (not job or special training) is completed. If I select Rat Tail, the emulator freezes. When the first proposition is completed, then in the Jobs menu there is simply a Work history and the bug no longer appears .I'll give you a save just in case if it needed.

Thanks! The memory card helped out.

The issue going on here was that, while I did manage to kill off the list population for Jobs based on active Propositions, I didn't stop the Jobs option from loading if there were active ones. If you don't have any completed Propositions, this leaves you able to access a blank list, which causes fuckery. I must have already had some Propositions completed when I was testing, or else I probably would have caught that blank list.

What I really wanted to do from the start was get rid of the entire Jobs menu option. But I had a lot of trouble when I first tried, because when the game checks Script Variables, it doesn't do so in a way that trips breakpoints on "game reads this byte of data". I know now that there's a routine that does this, so it's just a matter of killing off or looking through the checks until I find ones that are looking at the variables I want it to stop looking at. That means that in 1.2.25, the Jobs option won't even show up anymore.

A few of whom? Your question seems like it's being asked of the mod author - "the new classes you've concocted" - when, like I said, that person never logged in again after their last post in 2019.

The Lion War / TLW's WotL Movie files
February 27, 2025, 09:50:47 pm
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                              Install WotL Movies
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AFTER patching the TLW PPF to a clean unexpanded image file, you can download the movie PPF from this Dropbox link, or at the bottom of this topic. Then patch that PPF to your copy of TLW.

Alternatively, if you want to get around the use of a PPF (because it won't be compatible with every other mod), download the movie files included in this topic, and pick up cdprog.exe from this page. (It'll be flagged as a dangerous download, unfortunately, so you'll have to deal with your browser and antivirus software for that.)

- Extract the folders anywhere
- Open cdprog.exe click 'file' then 'open' and locate your ISO
- Press the + button on the folder, and then Navigate to the OPEN folder
- Right Click FFTOP.STR, and select 'Insert File Into' Click 'Current Selection'
- Navigate to the file you extracted and pick  FFTOP - POST NAME ENTRY WOTL.STR
- Wait until you get the message 'File Inserted Successfully'
- Right Click FFTST.STR, and select 'Insert File Into' Click 'Current Selection'
- Navigate to the file you extracted and pick FFTST - PRE-TITLE SCREEN WOTL.STR
- Wait until you get the message 'File Inserted Successfully'
- Close cdprog.exe and enjoy!

FFT TLW ReMixed / Re: ReMixed Bug Reports
February 27, 2025, 09:12:11 pm
The PPFs have to be specifically made to be compatible with each other. I would have said to use the files from the TLW readme link, but I didn't know until just now that the movies are no longer directly provided, just the PPF.

I just went and uploaded them to a new topic, though. Along with the readme instructions from TLW 1.06 on how to get them in game.

You can't apply a PPF to a patched mod without issues. I would assume doing it the other way around would have been fine, assuming you're importing the movies manually.

Since you said "the WotL patch", if you mean TLWotL, and not just the movies, that would just break everything.

The Lion War / Re: TLW-Movies Patch - Playback Issues
February 26, 2025, 11:05:39 pm
Those are the only two movies that get added. And there's absolutely no way you'd be able to get the 4K videos on this PSX game. The ones you're getting there were made frame by frame, by hand, IIRC.

Help! / Re: Play ReMixed MOD on PS1/PS2 Hardware?
February 25, 2025, 04:24:56 pm
You wouldn't be able to play it at all if your PS2 wasn't modded. And even if it was, there's no guarantee this mod would run on it entirely as intended.

The Lion War / Re: Conflict with ASMs
February 25, 2025, 04:20:55 pm
I don't know how reliable that Move button is. I've seen a few issues come up from improper moves of free space code. You'd have to get into ASM editing to edit the files themselves, directly, and that can get a bit complicated because of the different formats and offset modes that can go into ASM hacking.

The first thing that you would want to do is to go get the files from before you made that change. Because if the jumps no longer line up, now we don't even know where they were originally supposed to go. And it may not be obvious to find that out again.

Then you want to make sure that the defense ASM file is actually in ASM mode. Which means instead of being a bunch of random numbers and letters looking like a Gameshark code, it would have lines like "addiu r29,r29,-0x0020" and "j 0x00152000". If it's not, then you need to run it through MassHexASM to convert it, but you would need the offsets in RAM. If the tag with "<Location file= >" doesn't have "offsetMode="RAM"" in it, you need to get a calculator in programming mode and add 0x67000 to each offset value (such as "offset=F1230") and use that value in MassHexASM's Location field to correctly convert the hex code to ASM. Doing so will show all the "j" and "jal" commands with the RAM location they jump to. This lets you find out all of the jump locations that need to be corrected when the free space code is moved.

There is a Free Space button in OrgASM. Select All, then click it.
