I am having no issues with this on either PSXfin or Duckstation, on enemies or allies.

Yeah, she'll be permanently stuck as one. I would recommend to go back on that save file to before Orbonne and do it on an earlier version.

My plan has been to release the resources when I have all the bugs squashed. I did recently put the entire folder of ASM hacks up on Discord, though.

Whoops. I suppose I got the commands reversed then - probably dismissing Alma in NG+ instead.

Quote from: LoneWolfZ24 on October 20, 2024, 01:43:31 pmMan you guys are really on it.  Big thanks, as I'm playing through this right now, and loving it.  If I may make an argument for a request.  Once you max a job, you can no longer read what the abilities do in the formation screen, and worse, some abilities make your characters "stupid" when auto battling, such as anything that puts death sentence on an opponent.  Since you have given us the ability to unlearn abilities, would there be any way to still allow us to enter the job abilities screen and learn, unlearn skills even when mastered?  Then we can unlearn skills which cause issues, and still read what the abilities do.  again, just a suggestion.

This got discussed a bit on the Discord server and another member and I went looking for the code for this today. Found it, and this function will now be added into the next patch.

Yeah, the permanent deaths are unrelated to anything that has to do with the battle data of the unit. Guest control is a different story, though.

Quote from: UnfamedAsterisk on October 21, 2024, 02:57:57 pmI don't think the ability to control guest characters works anymore , i've tried confirming the option in the extra options settings but to no avail

Yes, I was actually wondering about that recently, but didn't take the time to go check. Improved level scaling is likely interfering with that. Can you turn that off and see what happens?

The fix shouldn't be too difficult. I think I just need to make the preparation menu run the same commands to make them controllable after improved level scaling is run.

Quote from: UnfamedAsterisk on October 20, 2024, 04:31:31 pmIn the 1.2.08 update blog you said quote "Most weapons will do an extra 25% damage for attacking from behind, but bows and crossbows will do an extra 50% damage, while knives will do an extra 100%."

I mentioned this to you in the Bug Reports topic as well, but this is listed in the changelog you mention:

Quote- Back Attacks have been implemented. Can be customized or outright disabled in Extra Options. By default, Thieves and the Mug ability will get a guaranteed critical hit if attacking the target from behind, which can stack with a standard critical hit if the unit also hits that 4% chance. Most weapons will do an extra 25% damage for attacking from behind, but bows and crossbows will do an extra 50% damage, while knives will do an extra 100%.

This bolded setting is the only thing you're changing with the Extra Options. You can change it to make back attack auto-crits happen under more circumstances - or never.

The exact specifics of what happen go like this: when a crit chance check comes up, the game first runs a back attack auto-crit check. If that succeeds, it switches the attack type to a critical hit and adds damage based on the equipped weapon. The auto-crit cannot do knockback.

Then it runs the normal critical hit RNG check and damage calculation on top of that, giving you an additional 4% chance to do an extra 0-100% damage and possibly knock the target back (like the vanilla crits).

And now so is Version 1.2.13, with quite a few bugfixes taken care of.

Thanks for the report. I recently changed the ATTACK.OUT file, which holds all of the scenario data for every event and battle, in order to make the new Custom Mandatory Units hack work as intended. But I corrupted the file I was using in my current patch, so I grabbed one from a previous PPF. Looks like it was from before I set up the Extra Options event, even though I didn't think so. Just had to go in and tell it to load the event script for it again, so that'll be fixed along with several other issues with the newest patch this weekend.

The prompt is on purpose, as the text for the Extra Options became too big to actually fit alongside the Preparation Menu event.

Bonus attack damage from behind is by default restricted to Thieves or the Mug ability. To change it, you would need, well, the Extra Options, heh.

Unless the mod changes something, you can learn skills that heal you as long as they actually do change your current HP.

Well, okay then. It looks like that may have been a problem before as well. There's not really much of a point in necroposting this topic; the author of it barely ever dipped a toe in the community and didn't return to help the last time this was an issue over 4 years ago.

It's also a basic obscure vanilla rebalance patch. If this one's not working out, you have so, so many more you can pick from instead. Lots of folks casually make these kinds of mods just for the fun of the tinkering and replaying.

Version 1.2.12 is out.

Completed Mods / Re: Extra Ability Effects hack?
October 13, 2024, 08:46:06 pm
Oh, that's what that is.

If it's tied to the Altima teleport effects, it's a hack that isn't around anymore because the functionality was moved to the Patcher. It allowed ability effects to be given to abilities that don't use spell effects like Jump and the Math skills. (The Math skills ended up being the ones to use; it broke Jump.) This allowed the Altima teleports to be told to use those abilities instead of needing entire ability slots to be wasted just on special non-ability effects.

Honestly, if you're looking for a hack that isn't readily available, it's generally not going to be worth your time. It'll fall into one of three categories: an interesting idea that never worked without serious issues in practice, something made obsolete due to other work since then, or something big that's part of a specific mod and is full of dependencies. And considering how all of the above are readily available, that really says something. Best not to worry about chasing something just from the name when you don't even know what it did.

Help! / Re: Portuguese translate
October 13, 2024, 12:02:06 pm
It requires using a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to replace Japanese kanji characters with accented ones (I believe it's the "FFT Font Character Creator" in the Xifi-Sheets, then a lot of editing using FFTacText for the descriptions of things like abilities, towns, jobs, as well as unit quotes, rumors, proposition messages, and so on. Then you need to do a hell of a lot of event editing using either EntryEdit or (more likely) EasyVentSuperPerfect. All of these are available on the Tools page.

And if your language tends to require more text than the English language does, you have to account for all the times it goes beyond the width limit of a message window or the times it increases the size of the text so much that it goes past the size limits of a certain section of the disc (for TacText editing) or the size limits of an already nearly full event.

Doing a translation of the game can take a few years to do, so don't go in expecting it to be quick and painless.

No, those movies replace existing movies.

It is not possible and never will be.

Well, that's an interesting one! Looks like Improved Level Scaling partially removes the status effect of Treasure by disabling it in the Battle Stats, allowing this unit to get turns again, but softlocking the game as it does so.

You can still do this battle, but you need to turn off Improved Level Scaling in the Extra Options in order to do so.

ReMixed uses the Alternate Animations spreadsheet to set all of that, rather than the Animations tab.
