Custom sprite poses glitched

I know why they're glitched  :P , I just need to know how to go about fixing it.

I looked at these forum threads:
http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=2645.msg55741
http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=9011.0 (and in regards to this thread, see link below)
http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=9011.0#msg179163 (Twinees helped fix his problem)

And I got to say two things. First, I have no idea how to go about doing the above stuff, so sadly they don't help me and if I keep searching for topics on things which are confusing me I might get a tad bit overwhelmed so I'm going to start here. Secondly, I need not only Ramza's special poses, but others as well (not all poses though, but if all poses are possible to be used by all.. that'd be great, but in regards to hacking I kinda know that would be too easy haha).

To give you an idea (Opening Scene with them where Ovelia is praying to God), I am going using the custom sprite "Female Paladin" for female generic knights in my testing phase of things, the custom sprite "Helmetless Gafgarion" for Gafgarion, and custom sprite "High White Mage" for Simon, all found on the custom sprite page here. Also, even though I have yet to do it, I plan to replace Ramza as the main antagonist with someone else, either for testing or if I actually decide to make a patch.

The injured female knight (although glitchy) walks in and looks like a regular un-patched generic knight til she drops to her knees. Simon (although as the High White Mage sprite) walks over and bends down to her then he becomes glitchy. Although not as a glitchy sprite, when Gafgarion bows, he has his helmet back on.

Confusing to a new hacker of FFT like myself, I'm sure this isn't that complicated to fix. I definitely am confused at what's displayed on event editing so I'd like it if this can be done without any or too much of that.

I'd like to know how when I run into this kind of thing, how to go about fixing it properly, possibly for any sprite. Many thanks in advance if you can help explain it to me.

First off a little thing about EVTCHR, these are special frames that are not found on a spritesheet and are only called in
events, each frame is individually drawn, and due to this, this problem is not a simple fix.

The question gets asked a lot. To fix this you will need to create a new EVTCHR, you can get EVTCHR Viewer
here: http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=407.0;attach=9555

You will need to open your iso in CDMage or CDProg and pull out the Battle.Bin (root folder) and EVTCHR.BIN (Event Folder)

Open these 2 files with EVTCHR Viewer and you will see the EVTCHR Sheets. If you plan to do anything besides just replacing
those few frames you should know EVTCHR are a pain in the ass, I will tell you that right now, and very few of us know a lot
about how they work, mostly Kokojo or myself. Adding new ones does require quite a bit of event editing, which I'm more then
willing to teach, as long as you intend to put the knowledge to good use :3

The EVTCHR you are looking for For Simon is EVTCHR 0 Palette 1, for Gaf it's EVTCHR 0 Palette 0. It's a bit confusing, but that's
how it works. Also I should note, Editing a EVTCHR follows the same rules as a normal spritesheet, the difference is that each
palette has it's own sheet unlike sprites which will have all the palettes on the same sheet. This does cause some confusion
when it comes to reimporting or correctly setting up the palettes. The best way to learn about how all this works is with Celdia's
Formation sprites tutorial. It has helped me understand a lot more then it was ever intended to.

Hope this helps some.

That's a shame, but I'd be willing to learn how to do EVTCHR editing as playing through the game with the same characters sprites does get a bit boring, however, having them be glitchy if they're new ones is just as much.

I had figured it would be something that got asked a lot but I didn't know how to search for it exactly as I didn't know how to put it into words exactly what I was wanting.. sorry for that bit, I'm sure it does probably get annoying having to answer the same questions over and over :). I already had a EVTCHR program from the download page, but not the viewer (Thanks for that!), but a lot of the things on the EVTCHR Viewer appear as question marks.

I use CDMage for opening the Iso (well FFT bin actualy .. hope the difference doesn't matter) but I did that step. I got to the step of seeing the sprites with the palettes. Got that bit. I really only plan to go so far as to learn how to make custom sprites not appear glitchy as of right now (If I take on too much at once I'll get overwhelmed). I also seen Celdia's Formation Sprites tutorial earlier, but I skimmed over it. I'll be needing that of course, so I'll take my time to read it and understand it and hopefully get some nice information from it like you did.

And yes, it did help :) . And Yeah I'd be willing to learn event editing and put it to good use :p
