Fix for screen freezing when running ePSXe

Hey I've been having trouble with my ePSXe.  I've been trying to play hacks on it lately... It used to work just fine but now all of a sudden its always freezing at the squaresoft screen.  I tried my Tactics Ogre iso and it freezes on the opening load screen.

Any help or suggestions?

Make sure you didnt disable the sound plugin and that your speakers are plugged in. Ive found that with ePSXe either of these can make it crash at startup or at the squaresoft screen.

If that doesn't work, post screenshots of your plugins so that I could see if the problem lay there.

Sure enough, I enabled the sound plugin and it started working again just fine.  Thanks for the help.

Sorry about using the wrong forum, just wasn't sure if this was directly related to modding.  If I have anymore questions I'll post them here.

Yes the sound for ePSXe is very finicky, if you really dont wnat it, turn your speaker off, or mute it in the sound control

You can also make a save state, then turn off ePSXe, turn it back on, disable the sound plugin and load it from the savestate before it reaches the squaresoft screen. This is what I do anyway .
