Game keeps freezing...

Here's my problem:

I started with a clean ISO. I patched it with Laggy's LFT+WotL Translation patch. Then I edited some of the sprites. I used popstation to convert it into an Eboot file and started a new game on my PSP. Everything played just fine, new sprites included, until I tried to change jobs. Now, everytime I attempt to change any character's job, the game hangs for about 10 seconds, then my PSP just shuts off. Wtf would be causing this exactly?  

EDIT: I just applied the same patch to a vanilla rom but this time did NOT edit any sprites myself. Same thing happened >_<.

EDIT2: Just tried with a completely vanilla iso. Problem gone. Must be the patch...

The patch itself, may use ASM that makes it incompatible it anything outside of ePSXe

Yes, there are some ASM that are incompatible outside of ePSXe, for example, xifane precision hack, or Ability Requirement Hack
