Hello~ Trying this out, couldn't modify my HG-Fiona topic OTL So yeah, i'll be posting my attempts at spriting here... critics appreciated!

First off, an OC! Borrowed the Meliadoul Unveiled portrait and head/hair cause they're awesome, and stuck them over Lijj's Female W.M. sprite. It came out like this:

Edit: Tried to improve the portrait, hopefully it went well? Left is before, right is after~

I like it. Not a bad headswap and I always loved that portrait honestly.

-shrug- I ran Meliadoul's hair through a hue change, i figured it'd be a good thing, but apparently it wasn't? .-.
As for the portrait, for the spritesheet i used the former one, just wanted to see if it'd look good somehow. :p

P.S: I'd really appreciate some help with the shading. It's supposed to be light purple, but i'm not sure how light to make it to avoid "blinding" properties, nor how to keep it... light purple, alongside the shading problem itself. .-.

the problem is the hair was made for the color it originally was, the shades you are now using seem too far apart as you can probably tell. It's not that bad, but it is a problem.

Yeah... dammit, first Fiona's hair was too bland without much difference between shades, now this one's the exact opposite XD
I'll keep trying to balance it out.

Edit: Tried to make it blend together.

Hair lost a lot of it quality, became more flat and on back frames the placement is wrong. Where did you get all the colors? That color is just not working for hair, if you need some manga/anime colored hair check Hector palettes, or Dart's. And remember to avoid doing custom work as much as possible, do some frankenspriting for now, and you will get the feel to it soon.

-shrug- I did try to use pre-existing stuff as much as i could, but it just won't work without the purple. >_> I really wanna make it work, though i'm not sure exactly which is the right approach.

I think it's alright.. but maybe the greys as a shader need to be more saturated and ruddy.
There's one pixel in the side of the face that is bothering me slightly Maa Kun. that little area needs to be rounded off and the mole like pixel should become smooth.

I'm not really sure what exactly the mole-like thing was, but i did notice some stray pixels. Hopefully this looks better-

Edit: Added an attempt at a portrait. I'm sure there must be like... eight hundred things wrong but i have to start somewhere, hm?

You get a nice concept for hair there, but since colors got completely screwed, it looks bad. Same for face, it looks very weird(especially eyes), and the body is probably the worst. A small tip for doing ports, first set your palette the way it is supposed to be, then paste in parts you want, recolor it manually and add all the pixels it lost cause of color differences(you will need the original portrait you c/p from, and the new one you work on opened). You should basiclly do that for every part, not only hair.

Hm, well... that confirms my doubts about the portrait, which is good in the end since now i'm certain it sucks. XD
I tried looking for shirtless sprites, but i found none so i left the body as untouched(pun? D:) as i could. I wanted the eyes to be a bluish white, but i guess i still can't afford such luxuries .-. Also wanted to add a goatee(for which i couldn't find references either) but it doesn't really work when the face uses pretty much the same shades. As expected, frankenspriting gets harder the more parts you use; with this one i ended up with so many stray pixels and shading loose ends that i had to improvise... and failed.

Also, no input on the last spritesheet edit? Maybe there wasn't enough of a change, or something? What would you do, or rather, could you make it look better, Mr. Kage? Please?

I will do some fixes for the head on sprite, gimme a while. I think I know why I see the colors off on the sprite as well, it is probably that every shade for whites is soo bright, somehow it lost depth cause of it. I am betting Knight's whites from cape will help here(even though it is a little different whote, it will surely help with depth stuff). Also, like I mentioned earlier, head placement is wrong in diagonal back frames(it should be one pixel higher, and one pixel to our left).

Edit: Look at the head on diagonal forward frame to see changes

Alright, thanks a lot! It really does look better!
Gotta see how to fix the blond portrait now, also going to attempt "importing" a monster sprite from another game... and then to finish Fiona and actually make a shirtless spritesheet for the blond guy. XD Easier said than done, but... ah.

Again, thanks for the help Mr. Kage!
