Crap, crap crap, crap, crap.  Well, now I gotta scrap an idea.  I wanted to encase her in a crystal for her defend stance, but it'll look strange when she gets hits it'll disappear for a sec then reappear.

or you could make her look like a crystal when she is hit also... which wouldn't be a bad idea by any means

erm

make her reeling animation (when she flinches) have crystal shards spinning around her, or at the very least sparkles of some kind

so even if she gets hit while she's defending it'll fit with the crystal
