alot of ppl assume the dancer is perfect for a character with a dress like aeris... but i found after making the "misty" sprite out of a generic theif, that its probably one of the worst (at least for me)

its because its really hard to get the shading right if you try to remove the crap over the fabric in the front facing frames of the dancer... but its easy to draw a dress over a pair of legs like the thief or archer and get the shading right because you know where the legs are under the dress...

They were pretty good, but Cid is an obvious musty recolor, and yuffie's sprite is just bad in general.

To tell the truth I'm not all that impressed by any of them. I like the Sephiroth one, though.

I like the portraits for Cid, Vincent, and the Shinra soldier.  The Shinra soldier's helm is fantastic in fact.

The sprites are ambitious.  It's hard for me to poop on anyone's sprites since I know a lot of effort goes into them, but there is something that looks off on each one of them.

Cloud - He has the parachute pants syndrome that his original sprite did.  Plus it's hard not to prefer my own over his.
Tifa - It's just a dancer recolor.
Cid - Mustardio recolor, but the goggles look splendid.
Yuffie - Looks nothing like Yuffie.
Vincent - Very nice.  Not sure we need to see the bandana in the rear view though.
Aeris - Is she pregnant?  (Zoz, good job de-pregafying her.)
Sephiroth - I still see Elmdor, but it looks good.
Soldier - On the rear view a can't tell what happening with his head.

I don't mean to be so harsh, but I do love the effort being put into spriting them.

That is the perfect way to put it.  They are unpolished.  They all need to be refined in one way or another.

I think he used the bard...but then again he could of just copy/paste the bard parts on it

I definitely want the Vincent one, maybe the Sephy for the overcoat, all the rest I could care less about except maybe the Soldier.

I want to now how they extracted the shit from WLDFACE.Bin and re-put it back together without messing up everything's face.

and it doesn't surprise me that barret's not in there; a japanese guy did em, right? i don't think they like barret much over there...

as far as females go, i think the archer, the thief (for scantily dressed women, like amazons, etc.), and balmafula make great female custom sprite starts

edit: tifa's sprite here is pure garbage imho...
