Can someone give me a quick blank slot new ability workflow?

My search-fu isn't strong enough... :negative:

So yeah I'm aiming to create a couple new abilities using the game's unused slots but I'm kind of clueless right now. I suppose it would go something like this:

1) Find the ability's addresses for Formula, X, Y, Effect, Animation etc. (help?)
2) Fill in whatever you want. (easy)
3) Give it a name and description in TacText. (easy)

edit oh yeah and

4) Manually add the ability to the skillset you want because FFTPatcher can't do it (help?)

1) iirc there are only about 14 truly unused slots -- there's one in the middle of... time?  yin-yang? and another blank slot somewhere near the Bio family and small bomb.  Then all the bottom space after Parasite before you start getting into the charges and jumps and whatnot.  If you need more than that you'll need to do some ability consolidation/removal.  

2) Just highlight those blank slots and fill in the information as desired.  As a sidenote, you MUST change the Effect for all the sub-parasite abilities or else the game will crash.  Effect video list, if you feel like browsing:

2a) Animation is a seperate tab, but its the next one over.  Easy method is to copy/paste from a similar ability (ie, if it's something magey, just copy Raise/flare/whatever).

3) Yeah, pretty much.  Text -> quick edit and then change the name/description

4) Patcher can.  There's a skillset tab.  Just click on a drop-down on an available slot and insert it.  Note that it'll still display blank in patcher, so keep a close eye on which blank you're selecting.

Oh, well I guess I'll look pretty dumb if I admit that I had no idea Unholy Sacrifice, Barrage and the Plunder line were the blank abilities I was looking for, right?

I feel guilty using Patcher. It's such a powerful tool that I feel like I'm not doing any work at all.

Bah, just give it time, you'll get good at it. These guys probably spend more than 10 hours working on this stuff.
