There seriously isnt an explination jukain. i dont think your university has anything to do with it. my computer did it to and im not even behind a router...IRC is just one of those fickle things... you might want ot try a different client and see if it gives you the same error Mirc does...it might help narrow down the problem a "TINY" bit

It looks like a router firewall problem. maybe it is your university.

Did you try opening the ports with windows firewall?

No luck on either mIRC or XChat for paradox.esper.net on port 6667. Bummer.

Yup, the ports are open on both my firewall and on Windows Firewall, I've even tried disabling them both. Nothing seems to be working... but right now YouTube and Windows Live are totally working fine so that shouldn't be the issue.

Also SB they're just being shy/modest, it's true among all of us for the most part. Some of us are just a bit more open about it. ^^

EDIT: I've since found out that my university's network practically blocks -all- ports which is stopping me from using IRC. It's actually even directly stated in the terms (that no one reads) that IRC (among other things) is explicitly blocked for security reasons... so I guess I won't be joining you guys in chat as long as I'm at school. I figure even the web one would work though, cause when Windows Live Messenger is being funky (potentially for the same reason of limited ports), MSN Web Messenger works 100% of the time. Iunno. T_T;;
